That's probably just an optical illusion/your crapness :D. I never noticed the obvious switching being used in a game, but I also have the impression others can lunge from, somewhat, bigger distances than me (like our resident swordwhore, MR BEN).

I'd say yes to grabbing stuff through a wall because it's so amazingly easy and for weapons, undetectible.

But we do need a clear ruling.

I don't really mind weapons (although in an ideal world it wouldn't be possible), but the grabbing of an objective through an otherwise impassable wall clearly puts the defending team at a disadvantage and shouldn't be allowed.

It's different for the gate since that can be opened and you can throw a flag through it, so it's an intended part of the map (maybe also for the drain in ivory tower, although I never tried this). You can't tell me Bungie intended the flag to be grabbed through floors and walls.

I tend to agree with Atarian. My only problem is enforcing it. I guess at least if we all agree at the start then it reduces the potential for conflict.

But I dont really think it is in the spirit of them game. I only think Bungie have not made it a bannable offence because it is so easy to do, and potentially could be done accidentlly, unlike the other "glitches".

If people can make their thoughts known in here on Grabbing things through walls in here then we can act accordingly. I dont think we need to bother about weapons, just flags and bombs (if indeed it can be done with the bomb?)

Oh, I don't know if it's possible but we noticed that the water at the sword place comes from above through a simple drain with bars at the start of the rocket alcove. I don't know if you can even drop the flag through it and you'd have to be incredibly precise, but it is an actual physical gap in the floor so following my 'common sense/physics' ruleset it is allowed to grab the flag through the floor at exactly that point :angry:

but seriously, grabbing through walls should be okay, everyone is aware of it, and you generally watch out for it in matchmaking anyway.

there are examples where it's kind of "physically possible" anyway. i sometimes grab the flag through the wall in zanzibar when it's in one of the two entrance alcoves. in theory my character has reached around the corner to grab it, as it would be possible in real life to grab it. well that's my theory at least.

Theres nothing wrong with grabbing through walls, it's a part of the game now and it's not like you can grab it from the other side of the map, you have to be within 1/2 a meter of the item you are picking up so it's not like your not going to notice them.

as long as everyone is aware that it can be done (and your team mates are muppets if they don't warn you about it, as it will be done against you outside the champs), then you can defend against it. i see arguments ensuing if it is disallowed, as claims of glitching through walls will be denied etc.

perhaps it can be not officially condoned, but you can do it if you have no honour. of course, this means evt will do it as often as possible ...

best (and most useful) example of this is grabbing it through the floor in lockout. just set up a custom oddball game, and try going under the ball and jumping. you should be able to work it out ...

Ofcourse it's wrong. It's simply common sense. The dummying is also part of the game, and you can watch out for it. Doesn't make it right. Just play the game as intended, there's plenty of scope to be clever and sneaky within the regular game.

Also, nutcasey, I'd have tried for T34M Sl4Y3R™ if I knew you'd be so adamantly against the Oh My God Squad™ :lol:

And Bungie themselves have said that for oddball on Lockout, you can grab the ball from underneath, as otherwise its unfair for the team that start in the lower part.

Yeah, it would be daft if we couldnt captain or even play in our EVT teams though, so fair 'nuff.

If you were in two teams, what would happen if the teams had to play each other at some stage?

Besides, I might just pee on you for "conspiring with another team". :unsure:

I think Wah Wah was having a laugh when he asked to be honest. He's in one of the Sacred Remains teams anyway.

We are thinking of making the Oh My God Squad™ clan at some point in the future, though it'll be a "when we're together" type thing, and wont be a permanent thing, honest.

T34M SL4Y3R™ will also be the same :unsure:

grabbing through the floor on coag is nasty is my opinion, means you have to defend both bottom and top.g
