thats fine. I will check on Sacred remains at 12 to see if they are entering 2 or 3 teams.

I havent heard back from Tyler either so I am guessing he isnt entering a team now.

Either way its a definite cut off for the late comers at 12 today.

Championship format

-------------------------

15 teams

2 leagues, one comprised of 8, the other comprised of 7.

2 games will be played per week

The calendar runs from monday to monday, first week scheduled 24th January.

Mutual date for teams to play should be communicated through captains.

Teams for game must be posted in this thread before match

Each team will play the other in the league once.

Game types will be drawn at random.

Games will be played over 6 game types.

3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw.

The top 4 teams from each group qualify for the Quarter finals.

Quarter finals

----------------

(1) winner Group 1 plays 4th place group 2

(2) Second place group 1 plays 3rd place group 2

(3) third place group 1 plays 2nds place group 2

(4) fourth place group 1 plays winner of group 2

semi finals

-------------

winner of quarter 1 plays winner of quarter 3

winner of quarter 2 plays winner of quarter 4

final

Any problems or questions can be aired between now and Monday, so some of the above may change, I will obviously communicate that to all in here.

will grouping be done at random? or will you split clan teams up (where two are entered, one in each group)?

I hadnt considered that. I am currently trying to think of the fairest way to do the draw without being accused of fixing it.

Maybe if someone would volunteer to come into a room with me on Halo tonight and they could have a list of the teams, as could I, and we would draw them one at a time?

As for the games being random as well I will need someone to pick them out for my clan games to ensure fairness. Dunno who I trust though :)

Just a point, in the event of teams being level on points (and it mattering) then the game between the teams will be the deciding factor, if this was a draw then a play off must occur.

syntax, those quarter finals don't seem very fair. 1st place of group one to play 4th place from group 2?

what i mean is 1st place of group one shouldn't really have any trouble beating 4th place in group two, therefore pretty much guaranteeing that a place in the semis.

shouldn't it be like for like to even things up a bit? or maybe drawn at random (it is only 8 teams after all)?

That list of gametypes is far far far far far far far far far far too long and full of horro.

20 minute Neutral Bomb? On Foundation? Fuck right off.

Assault on Headlong? With 4 players? Fuck right off even more.

So far, so BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

All those 6 round matches should be four, surely?

Basically, why in heaven and piss aren't we just doing the Team Skirmish playlist? This suddenly sounds really boring/shit.

that grouping for the quarters is fairly standard for events like this. the idea being if you've done well in the group stage, you should get the easiest team in the knock-out stage. encourages good performance throughout.

also captains for the evt teams are mr ben and me.

I want a good reson why we aren't just doing Team Skirmish playlists. I trust Bungie more than I trust you. No offence like.

Those gametypes are all the ones everyone voted for.

I really dont care which ones we play, but I just took all the ones from the thread and put them together.

the reason it is six is to offer the possibility of a draw.

The figure twenty for the time was plucked straight from my head, I didnt think it sounded overly long.

As I have said, I am more than willing to change this if the majority wish, we have a week to fine tune. I dont take offense at people telling me I got it wrong.

I am sorry however the format bores you, if it bores others I will change it,

Indeed. you should be rewarded for finishing as high as possible in the group.

It also does not necessarily ensure victory anyway, due the random draw for the leagues al the best teams could potentially be in group 1, meaning 4th place from that group was still better than any from group 2.

The Team Skirmish list is the Minor Clan match. It's exactly the game types we'd play if we went and did this in matchmaking and it's exactly the format I'd imagine seeing a Bungie competition taking. The Halo Humpday challenges are taken from the Team Skirmish playlist.

Taking suggestions from competitors as to custom gametypes is manifestly unfair. They've played them, others haven't. They will have an advantage.

In the intrests of fairness and validity, I can't see how you can include anything but the official games.

And why do we want a draw? Many gametypes can be drawn anyway, introducing 6 rounds just makes it even more likely. A draw can already happen, the extra round just drags it all out. And hey, losing 5-0 is a bit better than 6-0. There is a broad sweep of skills in this compo, eh?

I quite like it at 12-15 minutes (on coag, I think it's 12 on the Bungie playlists- Can I also suggest we play it so that it DOESN'T reset after each score), and I also don't like it on foundation, but I guess a lot of the games on that list will not be chosen more than once, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I also like the inclusion of crazy king headlong more than once. :)

Are there many gametypes in that list that are not in the team skirmish playlist? :)

Or are you talking about how they are set up?

Im more than willing to move to 5 games, perhaps 6 was pushing it a bit.

how about using the team skirmish playlist, and each week doing a draw of six (or five - prefered as it's shorter, and you can still draw), and that's the gametype all matches that week will use. if there are multiple matches, do two draws.

I have just conducted the draw, I had to do one redraw to ensure two teams from the same clan are not in the same group (it was sacred remains). You are all just going to have to trust me.

I've yet to play an "interesting" team custom gametype that's even half as fun as one of the ones where everyone's practiced.

Team Crazy King - Headlong beats all those hands down.

But to be honest Im really not that fussed what we play.
