I'm well pleased that my man got 5 nominations.

But look at this ridiculous category.

Best R&B Song:

* "Burn" - Usher

Bryan Michael Cox, Jermaine Dupri & Usher Raymond, songwriters

* "Call My Name" - Prince

Prince, songwriter

* "My Boo" - Usher & Alicia Keys

Jermaine Dupri, Alicia Keys, Usher Raymond, Manuel Seal & Adonis Shropshire, songwriters

* "Yeah!" - Usher Featuring Lil Jon & Ludacris

Chris Bridges, Sean Garrett, LaMarquis Jefferson, Robert McDowell, James Phillips, Jonathan Smith & Patrick J. Que Smith, songwriters

* "You Don't Know My Name" - Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys, Harold Lilly & Kanye West, songwriters

I recommend you all hunt down and listen to Call My Name. It kicks the arse of the rest of them.

And only one person wrote it. As opposed to Yeah!, which was written by....seven fucking people.

I just would like to know how it takes seven people to write such a pile of shit.

Chris Bridges: Yeah

Sean Garrettl: Yeah

LaMarquis Jefferson: Yeah

Robert McDowell: Ooh yeah

James Phillips: Yeah

Jonathan Smith: Yeah

Patrick J. Que Smith: Ooh yeah

R&B is such a bullshit genre of music. That Usher album is awful for a start.

I didn't know Bryan Cox wrote R&B trax as well as killed X-Men though. :)

I wouldn't say his album was awful, it's certainly his best so far. Admittedly that isn't saying a whole lot but it's a start.

It does annoy me, however, when people dismiss the entire genre just because 'j-kwon and 50 cent are for teh chavs' or something. There isn't a whole lot that's good at the moment but that doesn't mean everything's 'bullshit'.

I bet you're one of those people that refer to 'indie' and all that (i.e. everything they play on Vh2) as 'real music'.

R&B as it is today is a fucking abomination:

The only music to manage to be both bland and offensive.

I'm sorry, but as much I Adore (geddit?) much of Prince's stuff, pretty much everything since Batman has been pretty poor. The icing on the cake was Chaos & Disorder, which is probably the worst album I own. For You through to Batman, with the possible exception of Controversy is all that anyone should judge him on IMO.

As for RnB :) What happened to Soul? WHere's today's Alex O'Neale/Luther Vandross/Aaron Hall/Ginuwine (sp?) What's with all these girls doing pointless vocal gymnastics to the same old beats and the same old tired 'booty-shakin' lyrics? :)
