TV Series or film?

Whaked it into Play and there are a few films, 1 through 5 I think.

Whats the story about?

Haven't seen the TV show but I've seen three of the movies and they're mint. Remember My Love is probably the best of them, and Beautiful Dreamer is cool too (but I'm not sure that's out in UK for wierd copyright reasons).

They're not really about anything. They're just really, really low brow, random slapstick comedy meets space opera sci-fi sillyness.

I just made them sound shite I know but...

While l love Totoro l prefer the beauty of Whispers of the Heart myself, there's something quite special and magical that l haven't seen since l was a little kid first watching Disney.

However, l disagree with Urusei Yatsura, firstly you need a big bank balance to buy the TV series from Animego and secondary does your son/daughter have the patience to go through such a long series?. l know l wouldn't at that age.

I've watched a lot of anime and the only works I think are any good are all Studio Ghibli, besides literally a handful of others (including Akira and Metropolis).

I've really tried with things people say are good, but almost without exception they turn out to be childish wastes of time. Or just plain boring. Or just an excuse for frustrating 'cuteness'.

So I recommend other Studio Ghibli films.

Whisper of the Heart is very slow though so a kid might get bored of it.

It's not bad if you can ignore the deviant sex and try to concentrate on and understand the story, which is actually very elaborate and complex.

Not very gory though, animes like Berserk...well just Berserk since it's the only one of it's kind..have much more blood and guts and far more explicit content (paedophilia, rape, prostitution, heresy) but of course the difference is that this stuff in Berserk is not gratuitous, unlike the stuff in Urotsukidoji.

EDIT: Ninja Scroll as the guy above says, is not great. Don't watch it, not unless you want to know what makes a medicore anime.
