For all you forumites near Nottingham.

Just noticed a branch of CEX has opened in Nottingham, must be fairly new as im sure it wasnt there last week.

Down the alley between the Market Square tram stop and big Mc Donalds.

Seems like they've employed the usual loudmouth staff with bad taste in music, but another independent games shop can't be a bad thing.

I went into the brum CEX a few weeks ago. They've given the place a paint job, in order to combat the BADASS Gamestation (biggest games store in europe i think), such a sad state, i remember when the first opened, EB/GAME were seriously loosing cash because of them and for a good reason it was the best games store ever. Awesome prices (on nearly new import games) and an awesome selection.

best gaming years of my life. Fuck you nintendo for fucking it all up and to a lesser extent lik sang and playasis, yesasia who offer such awesome services.

pfft

best game store on earth is in little old Bangor, Northern Ireland.

lots of imports, new releases, the biggest pre-owned GBA/GBC/SNES/N64 section you'll see in your lifetime... as well as the usual game teeshirts, wallscrolls, posters, DVDs, and to top it all off, a brand spanking fappingly fantastic Tekken 5 cabinet, complete with Card Slots and only 50p a pop or £1 for 3. Ran by a small 4 person family, who are the most rediculously sound people on earth. Gareth (the son) let me sit and troll on his DS all of today before royally destroying me at T5.

I think its only been open a week but hasn't had the sign up for the majority of it hence I've been walking past it every day ignoring it.

Nottingham must have the most number of games shops per square mile of any city in Britain. I wonder which one's going to pull out first? (remembering the short lived Whizz Kids in the Broadmarsh).

Had a look in the other day, it was a bit cock. I almost mistook it for a phone shop considering a goodly half of the store seems devoted to them. Still, it's probably better than Playtime or whatever that shop in Broadmarsh is called. The prices seem alright, but I can never seem to find anything I want.

Besides, anyone coming into Nottingham should be coming to Namco for some Third Strike action, not poncing about 5 identical game shops.

Where is the new Gamestation in Brum? When I lived there it was in the Pallisades. I'll have to give the new one a visit.

Gamestation Oxford have started apeing CEX by playing crappy metal/punk very loudly, which is a step in the wrong direction.

Five? I can only think of the two Games, Forbidden Planet (or whatever it's callednext to Walkabout) and that one in Broadmarsh. Where's the other? God knows why I care. I only buy online anyway, but still. It's nice to browse and flick through pre-owned and retro sections sometimes.

I used to work in the Gamestation in New Street and worked in the one at the Pallasades for a while as well. The one in New Street is great for gamers, pity the staff (or rather management) have not got a clue really, made me work six days a week (including the Halo 2 launch at midnight) without so much as a break.

I did enjoy working there though, if my University course was still going then chances are I would still be there, as it is, I now have another job which I really enjoy.

Theres the Retro games shop in the crappy Westend arcade opposite the Library it has quite a lot of stuff but at ridiculous prices.

It's a shame that CEX went down the route of Prison style decore and abusive staff, if they had tried to be a bit more shopper friendly they could have been one of the biggest 2nd game retailers in the country. The Tottenham Court Road branch used to be great, but that was quite some time ago now.
