The Gamecom X20 Headset

Just arrived today, and the comfort offered by the tiny headset is spectacular. Unfortunately the audio's shite, with a background hiss loud enough to convince Halo 2 you're always talking (white button trouble!), and a tendency to pick up the sound of your jaw moving far more clearly than the sound of your voice. Wank. Noise cancelling microphone, my arse.

Anyone else have one so I can tell whether this is an isolated problem or not? Also, a cheap place to get the Halo 2 headset would be nice.

According to the store I nabbed it from, they get about 15% of these back for defects, but no complaints about the Halo 2 one. They've suggested that I tug Plantronics' ear about it, in case they give me a free replacement of a Halo 2 headset which I'm just dodgy enough to try.

I would. The Halo 2 one is aces.

Mine is fine, very comfortable and no hiss. Sound quality comparable to the original. I think yours may be faulty.

The sound quality for the earpiece is good, but the actual mic sound quality's the problem. If it is just faulty, I'm going to give the manufacturer a ring, as it's cheap and neat enough for me to want to have one.

People can hear me fine with my Halo 2 headset.

Must be because you're loud :D

I think they might actually have their mic inside their mouth.

I never had complaints that I was hard to understand (aside from being a Johnny foreigner) using the x20. Remember to bend the mic away from your cheek, it shouldn't really touch your head at all.

I got a replacement! Hooray!

It also had the same problem. Place I ordered from offered to swap it for a Halo 2 headset for £5. Did so. Aces. The Halo 2 headset really is uber-comfortable. Not too keen on the sound quality of the little speaker, but apparently I come through loud and clear over the mic, and I can't hear much noise on recordings of myself.
