I think it ups the power to the same or slightly higher than the full-powered Striker.

So it all depends whether you want to deal death more efficiently, or look cool whilst doing so.

looking cool all the way! :( however the hundred shells you get when you buy the exclusive upgrade for the striker is also very useful.

ta for the info

I've just been replaying up to the first boss for the past couple of days now, with my old, Normal, twice completed Typewriter and every gun tuned up save.

And it's ace. I just can't decide whether or not to play it through a third time on Normal, with the Typewriter from the start, or go for a second time on Pro, and work my way up to the typewriter....

Or do some coursework. Damn you Capcom! Damn you.

Finally finished it!

Found the ending a tad easy, especially compared to what had come before.

Hit Ratio - 64%

Number of Kills - 953

Times Killed - 108

Total Time - 22:40:48

Saddler was really easy I thought, I'd struggled a damn sight more on Salazar before rocket launching his ass. The hardest bit on the Saddler section was actually finding where Ada had thrown the damn rocket launcher! For me, it's easily a 10. Second best game of the generation by a country mile after HL2. It's made be appreciate the cube so much more and makes me wonder how different things would have turned out for the cube had this been a launch title.

I thought Edge's thoughts that the game restricted exploring was just pitiful. There was tonnes of stuff to do and I wish they'd give you percentage for the amount of the game you completed a la GTA3.

Nothing beats that first blast of the shotgun. The first moment the headless corpse sprouts outs legs and the first, terrifying rev of that chainsaw.

Superb entertainment.

How big is Assingment Ada?

How do I unlock new outfits?

Game of the generation for the Cube.

As I'm back at my parents house this week, I finally got a chance to carry on with this.

Chapter 3-2

Arrgh! Those horrible invisble insect things are a nightmare. I just scraped through the sewer section using all of my green herbs and loads of shotgun shells. It was almost a relief to get back to fighting the cult guys. I've just done the bit with the chest on the raised platform in the big room (cult guys with rocket launchers!!!) and saved in a particularly moody looking corridor with massive windows perfect for jumping through...

I know I'm miles behind everyone else but this game continues to impress and scare the hell out of me. I just know I'm going to see those insects again :D

I am so stupid - spoiler from the speed run - Section after the lake - you know the one, where the dog helps you...

Click For Spoiler
The gigantes thing - you can climb on his back and cut the los plagos when it shows?! I so wish I'd known that earlier on, I had more deaths thanks to this fuck and the two fucks later in the game because I was shooting the infection! Goddammit.

You're not alone, I didn't know about 'that' either. Only after coming on here after I'd got past him, did I find out. Kind of glad I didn't know about 'that' as not knowing made it one hell of a fight.

You get that on normal mode. I thought it was because I was doing so badly.

Re: Shooting range.

Am I the only one who's worked out what's happening here and has managed to get bonus points?!

Ok, there are two 'painted' backdrops.

On the first - the village - by shooting the trees on the left hand side, birds fly out.

Shoot the window and you get a sample of a shouty man.

Shoot the clouds and you get mist.

Shoot the wasps nest (above the window to the right) and you get the swarm.

The Castle backdrop is better!

Shoot the sky and you get a shooting star / meteor!

Shoot the moon and you get a moonlit glow instead of the usual scene.

Once you've shot the moon, you can shoot the castle for fireworks and a 500 point bonus - most useful!

I have had all those effects crop up at one point or another but never attributed them to shooting certain things, I just thought some things like flies and the laughing were thrown at you as you miss. Nice to know there's a points bonus in their though, may come in handy when I give the shooting gallery another go.

i cant believe people missed the el gigante back cut...seems strange.

also have people found the 'hidden' cut scenes.

try:

going back into the room where you meet the chief of the village for the 2nd time and he speaks to you for a large bonus cut scene

go back across the lake after the 1st boss instead of doing the waterworks bit for a different intro to some monsters and you can fight the 2nd boss straight after the 1st one

shoot into the lake before you get in the boat a few times for a brief cut scene

im sure all this stuff is on gamefaqs but i refuse to go there for now.

I only really started tucking into this properly last night. Hadn't noticed the effects you mention, cos I was too busy going for headshots and the 500 bonus.

Finished the first row though, so it's handy to know about the bonuses for when I try games B, C & D.

Have anyone used the chainsaw controller with resident evil 4 ? Will it come out in UK and I would love to see Daily Mail seeing the game. Nintendo should send them the game a day before release ;) Just for PR.

It certainly is coming out in the UK and I can't wait to see peoples reactions either. Though I imagine it'll be a fairly predictable response...

Alas, I had to be told about that. Wish I'd experienced it fresh. Still, I've had moments in this game that no-one else has, so mustn't grumble.

I still have nightmares about that creeping woman... :(

Bugger, I missed that. In two minds whether or not I should ask what happened.

Maybe I just need to play this again.

What are you waiting for?

I'm having trouble playing anything but RE4 at the moment, as everything else just seems so...crap in comparison.

Not got much spare time TBH. Made a start on KOTOR II which ahs been gathering dust for months, but it does suffer from sequalitis.

I quite enjoyed Kotor, but the thought of playing another one doesn't appeal for some reason.

Know what you mean about the spare time. Even when I do get a window I usually have to kick the missus off Animal Crossing :(

I've had it since release, have played nothing else, and I'm up to Chapter 1-2. Bah.
