Resident Evil 4 (spoilers Warning!)

I finished this on Saturday. First game that I've wanted to keep playing till I finished it.

Although I do think the Castle had the best atmosphere overall. And the last boss was too easy.

Just goes to show doesn't it? Some people think the Castle is the "worst" bit.

My favourite sections/areas are the village in the dark/rain, and the Island, particularly the bit where you first go inside. Awesome detail in the textures etc.

Heh. Just playing it through for the second time - you don't half get through it quicker with powered up weaps!

For example...

Click For Spoiler
El Gigante - several full on Striker shots and he bends over, to allow me to use the maxxed out Broken Butterfly. 1 hit and he's dead! Awesome!

I've only got access to Matilda and the Infinite Launcher though. Is this 'cos I haven't done the Ada mission?

Completely with you on that score.

The village was like a stroll, El Gigante took one killer7 bullet and let me cut him up. The prisoner the same. The cable car I did first time out, only getting hit once unlike the first run through. The chief in the barn took 3 bullets and a few striker bullets. Practically unstoppable.

She looks surprisingly chipper when you find her again, doesn't she? You know, considering the implications of what just happened to her...

I never thought of it THAT way when I first saw it, and even on replay it doesn't look that clear-cut to me. I just assumed they wanted to stop Leon spying, getting an idea on their numbers, etc.

i started replaying it a couple of weeks ago, got to chapter 2.2 without dieing and in just over 2 hours. I know at some point gonna die though, probably on a QTE somewhere (i expect to die lots at that krasler QTE section).

Ill see how i go.

I dunno man, there are only two of them, they're advancing on Ashley, then they turn the camera off - they don't even know that Leon is there, so they don't want anyone to see what they're up to.

I thought it was decidedly dodgy...

I have to admit that it was one of my first thoughts as well....

kinda annoying. Was doing pretty well until the path section (without dieing). That was until Ashley got herself carried away by evil person and mission was failed.

Then happened twice again in the castle - she was caught in explosions twice. Surely they should not have counted as deaths, because she was the one who died.

Anyway upto chapter 3.2 or 3.3 on 3 hours 30 mins. Im sure i was on about 8-10 hours at this stage before. Infact its a little easy (and i have not even bought mega weapons yet) I have yet to die on a boss so far.

Got a favour to ask...

Due to accidentally deleting my Completed game save file, could I possibly send some kind person my memory card and get a copy of their save?

I had played through the game once, and completed Project Ada. However I'd imagine that would be stored on the Option File, which I still have? Anyways, I just need a copy of someone's Completed game save file so I can start my 2nd playthrough with some funky weapons to buy from the merchant!

Someone who's played through the game and Project Ada once would be ideal.

Would be much appreciated, I'll cover any costs.

Bazclef, i'm willing to help you if no one else is. The only problem is i've squeezed every drop of Resi goodness from the game. I've completed mercs mode with five star ranks for all four of each of the characters stages, completed asignment Ada and earned all the bottle caps. If no one else offers though i can copy the save file for you.

What a game. What a HUGE game. I think it's one of the largest games I've played. Surely Halo 2 and MGS:SS, MGS:SoL were smaller /took less time to complete. Another very nice aspect about this game is that, although it's huge, you hardly have to back track and revisit old locations in the process of playing. Every new section is it's own and shows the great amount of work that has gone into making this game from the art department.

Absolutely fantastic experience. It got really scary when those mummy like fuckers started appearing. I think I could have increased my TNE by 4/5 if I had turned of the cryogenic freezer (obviously didn't have the guts)...but was also very short of .45 magnum ammo.

The gameplay's fantastic...would recommend the game solely based on the game play. Story isn't as epic or exotic as the likes of MGS, Zelda Ocarina OT etc but I guess that's down to taste really.

Graphically the game is competent but nothing more. I've recently had to defend these views to the likes of Rushy (he thinks they is the dogs bollocks) but I don't think they are as revolutionary or impressive as say, when Halo came out, MGS:SoL etc, Goldeneye, Shenmue etc. very similar to Metroid Prime, however competent is more than enough imo. Enemy characters were one of the best I've seen for a very long time (better than Halo 2 imo) and the texture detail in the game is the best I've ever seen. The village/church at the beginning totally captures the atmosphere the game is suppose to convey. Also, the midgets' (Sallazar/dan?) condo was very impressive in terms of presenting the opulence/luxury etc.

One thing I liked very much about the game is the ability to go back and forth through save points. Probably taken for granted in this time and age but definitely a plus.

Having played Ico & PoP recently I don't think the puzzle difficulty measure up but I think this is a predominantly weapon heavy 3rd person shooter and I took the option of blasting my way through the game. I also took a bit of an easy option as I used the rocket launcher for nearly every boss. One negative note or hindrance was that you can't purchase ammo. This proved more annoying than tragic as it forced me to think about my weapon choice and how I dispose of the enemies.

Would love to give a copy of this to my brother but unfortunately being a wee 12yr I don’t think it'd be is cup of tea.

Much recommended...7/10. I give it a 7 because as much as it is a solid experience I don't think the story is anything exceptional. Don’t get me wrong, The plot is fantastic, but the overall story isn't something I'll be remembering for long. A bunch of weirdo zombie like terrorists take the US president's daughter hostage in an attempt to inject her with a contagious viral serum. All in the greater goal of taking over ze world? please. It's not even proper fantasy or credible, just some weird shit. Mind you the disclaimer in the end credits gave me a chuckle-raccoon police department :D
