Puchi Carat Controller Is "useful" After All!

Finally took delivery of a long awaited 'Arkanoid Returns' for PS1 today, an import purchased spurred on by my rediscovery of the joys of Arkanoid last summer when I bought the arcade machine.

Bit dismayed but not at all surprised to find the standard joypad control is next to useless, so I thought 'what about that Puchi Carat controller?'....

Good news is it works a treat. Can't remember exact details of how I came by the Puchi Carat game and controller pack, possibly a Beatties toy store special at some silly cheap price a few years back - expected to see quite a few on ebay but a quick search reveals a few 'solus' Puchi Carats and no boxed controller packs at all.

Point of thread?

1. Anyone else got the Puchi Carat boxed set with controller? Must be loads out there...?

2. If you have, get yourselves Arkanoid Returns and some means of playing jap games, because at last you'll have a reason to use the controller!

3. A couple of music tracks skip when I play the game...is this likely to be because I have a chipped PS1? The game disc looks flawless.

Cheers!

The "Puchi carrot" controller is in fact a copy of the controller namco made available for the Japanese version of Namco museum 2 - you could get it seperately or as part of a really nice limited edition that had the controller a big box, standies and other things.

CutieQ's the games name, it's ok basically, pinball meets breakout - I'll provide photo's of the encore and complete collection plus the limited edition museum 2 if anyone cares (don't think so somehow).

Yeah, the Puchi Carat controller is green with blue buttons whereas the official Namco one is white.

The Namco controller is pictured in the Arkanoid Returns manual - 213, was Arkanoid on Museum 2, hence the inclusion of controller? Wonder if Museum 2 came out before Arkanoid Returns?

Think I've seen your complete collection photo before but I am interested in knowing which games are on the 'encore' disk - I was thinking of bidding on one on ebay recently but couldn't find a list of the games anywhere.

To those asking for photos, I'm struggling to get a pic at the moment but a search on ebay shows one, albeit not boxed up.

Has anyone reading this got an Arkanoid controller for the NES??

Hello

It's not - it's just cutie Q. The US and Pal versions of 2 have super pac man on them as I'm sure you know thus they are the 2 hardest ones to find and most expensive.

Arkanoid is taito anyway and I think there's an arkanoid collection on the psone, but cant remember, my minds turned to mush thanks to work the last 2 weeks.

Rolling Thunders on encore, thats all you need to know ;-) (but for those who are bothered its Dragon Sabre, King and Balloon motos, Rompers, Sky Kid and the bloody awful Wonder momo).

Seriously buy it only if it's in the large case.

Now you've moved shouldn't we be meeting up?
