Holes To Plug This Year

There is a lot of talk about the forthcoming car boot season and this got me thinking about a few gaps in my collection that i hope to fill this year.

First and foremost is a boxed Sega Megadrive, I have 63 games but no mint boxed console. In fact I have a almost every other 8, 16 and 32 bit console boxed except possibly my favourite (the Megadrive).

Anybody else got an obvious or not so obvious gap they want to fill this year? <_<

Actually I'm more tempted to slim the collection down and thin out the stuff I never use - but I can never bring myself to do it....I don't need the space and wouldn't appreciate the cash as much as I appreciate owning the goods, so here it will all stay I expect.

Bits I'd like for my collection (that I will at least stand a chance of finding at a boot sale):

N64 - Paper Mario

Saturn - Burning Rangers (traded mine for some Game and Watches years ago)

PS1 - Namco Museum titles, Pang Collection

NGPC - some more games, only have a dozen or so

A bit embarrassed to say that's about it, I really have almost all I want of the PAL stuff.

But mostly I'd like to be surprised and delighted at an unexpected find. The last couple of years haven't yielded as many as the 'early years' but they are the ones you remember for a long while. Boxed Game and Watches would be really nice, especially a panorama or tabletop or two....

Still after Battle Garegga, Batsugun, Streetfighter Zero 3 and Sexy Parodius for the Japanese Saturn. It's just a case of being arsed enough to pay for them.

I'll get round to picking up a Chrono Trigger and FFVI this year too.

Oh, and my ongoing quest to reacquire an R-Types for PS1.

A few things I am after:

Super Pang Collection, Kula World, Castlevania SotN, Mr Driller and Kurushi Final on PS.

Loads of games I want for my SNES...Terranigma and Super Bomberman spring to mind.

A boxed and mint Mega CD 1 would also be nice. As well as a boxed and mint 32X. Sadly enough I saw one of these and some games at a boot sale last year. However, it was the day after I had broken up with my girlfriend at the time and I was too sad to even go and ask how much it was.

There's plenty more for me to still get...but those sprung to mind! Can't wait for the season to get going. I am hungry. Hungry, hungry, hungry <_<

There's nothing car-boot-sale-wise that I'm after. It's more a case of I see something that I like and subsequently buy it.

Like you (Magical Drop), I'm quite tempted to start thinning out my collection a little. I could do with the money to do some decorating around the house, and I'm very tempted to pile some cash up and buy a dedicated Pacman cab.

I have to say that I'm really enjoying all this car boot sale chat again. OK, there have been one or two of us here (not me) who have already picked up a few bargains, but I think Benito's last paragraph captures perfectly how we're all feeling at the moment - excited and looking forward to six months or so of bargain hunting.

The coming season isn't exciting me much this year <_< I think it's bacause I don't have a single boot where it's not one big fight for stuff anymore. I also have more things than I'll ever use / need and nowhere to store them. I'll still go I would think but I don't think I'll be getting the huge hauls of old any more. Still have a load of excess stuff from last year to get rid of (mostly tat!).

Things I'd still like...

NES Deluxe Set

Decent box for my Atari 2600

Box for my Vectrex (Yeah Right!!)

Few boxed SNES games

Few Mega Drive and Mega CD games.

How much you willing to pay for Kula World? I've got a copy, absolutely mint *goes and checks that* yeah, absolutely mint that I'm willing to part with. They seem to be going for about £30 on eBay.

I just want to get some friggin software for my Pippin......

But this will be my first year of hunting at boots for games. When does the season really start?

As soon as you can find a car boot, some places carry on all year round. My local finishes the week before Christmas and starts again at the begining of Feb. However it really starts to kick of late March round this way.

Far too many holes to plug in my collection, although its hardware I am more interested in than software.A nice mint ZX Spectrum 48k,and a boxed Intellivsion would make me happy.Although my holy grail is a boxed Atari 400 or 800 :)

Hardware always does it for me. I seem to collect consoles and then just get a couple of games for each. I blame it on the wealth of consoles available in my younger days, half of which i never managed to see let alone play.

I'd love to take that off your hands but I can't afford to pay 'the proper price' for it. It's going to need to be a boot sale find this summer! :)

*looks at Ratboy, then lovingly strokes his boxed, complete, even bagged up Megadrive 1, which doesn't even get unboxed for use, thanks to the psrae MD1, MD2 and KH MD in the games room*

Pretty much the same gaps for me as last year:

Mega CD

Neo Geo

PC Engine

NGPC

Game Gear

Atari Lynx

And a smattering of the best games for all the consoles....I don't really need anything in particular but just fancy limiting my keeps to the best of the best...

Wow!!! That's a great price for a Vectrex. Have you got a link to the finished auction? I'd really like to see what you got for your £50.

I'm almost done with plugging holes in my collection this year. I've bought PAL Panzer Dragoon Saga with the slipcase and Neo Geo AES Garou: Mark Of The Wolves and am waiting for them to arrive.

Other than that, I'm just going to be looking for PAL Neo Geo Pocket titles this year. And any cheap boxed Atari Lynx games I come across.

Come to think of it, Boxed (or boxes for) Lynx and Gamegear would be nice

I have a boxed Atari Lynx II.

I don't have the first model though. It's rarer isn't it?

Ive some how managed to accumilate 2 Original Lynx`s (one is very temperamental) and 2 MK2`s none of which have boxes. The last one I got at a car boot last year for £2. it was (the dodgy) mk1 with boxed Gates Of Zendcon. On the way home I opened the cart slot and found Blue Lightning inside! Result!

Those are hard to find:

Last year I got Castlevania SOTN but it was in awful condition.

I got the blockbuster version of Kula World, the local pikeys walked straight past it.

I found Kurushi in very nice condition, but I already had it, so off to ebay it went.

Well it was £58 plus postage but I got this:-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...item=5131849371

The top of the box is missing but for its age it is fantastic working condition :o

Now if I could just find a mint boxed Atari 400 I would be in retro heaven B)

I'd like to pick up a boxed NES , after ignoring them throughout 2003 I couldn't find a single one in 2004. I'd also like to find a nice big hoard of speccy games.

In fact all of last year was pretty bad for me, a fairly steady stream of Pal megadrive stuff, but that was it.

Hopefully 2005 will be better (of course actually going to some car boots would probably help )

Yep, all quite hard to find. Hopefully I will be able to find some goodies for ebay and then I can use the money to pick those up. B)

I find that my love for Japanese games means that I'm unable to directly get the things I'm looking for from car boots. To start with it was easy to get early import Megadive games but now after getting those I'm stuck with looking for things to sell that I can use the money to buy from Japan directly.

I suppose that the last Pal items I'd be looking for would be things that I'd need in English like Shining Force CD. However with the Gamecube on the way out I could get.

Viewtiful Joe

Animal Crossing

SNK vs Capcom 2

Phantasy Star 1+2

Crystal Chronicals

Metal gear Twin Snakes

and a lot of GBA titles.

I have all the real retro stuff I'm likey to find already.
