Its out soon is it not?

After my specatular failure on getting Flatout as my 2nd live game this is looking like its going to be the second title to take advantage of my headset.

I love the DoA games, jolly good fun they are.

So anyway I'm up for getting pwned by some people.

Someone tell me release dates and let me know i wont only be playing against fighting masters!

Currently down for the 18th of feb. I'll be getting it and I am no fighting master so I'm also hoping that everyone won't be a master as they appear to be on SF3.

Excellent news.

Consider yourself added to my friends list as soon as it comes out then!

Just over a week to go ... might crack out the old DoA 3 and try to refresh myself ... although starting again against real people from scratch is half the appeal!!!

I got my copy today - I'm reviewing it for a website.

Jolly nice it is too and Live play works well. At the moment for obvious reasons there don't seem to be any EU players online which means that playing against Americans can involve a bit of lag. Games therefore range from silky-smooth (near-identical to the single-player game) to a bit laggy, but strangely enough it's still perfectly playable even when it's laggy - if anything it becomes slightly more strategic.

No-one's playing DoA1 online though - which is a shame, because that's great too. :)

If anyone fancies a game of this online, feel free to add me to your friends list either when you get your copy or in advance so we can have a game when it arrives. My gamertag is Garwoofoo.

Amazingly, It still looks beautiful even after 3 years...

Bring on Thursday evening...

That's a good idea, actually. I think I'll brush up a tad, before I kick sith into an elephant.

How will it work online, surely the better players will just pummel the crap out of you with counter after counter after counter? Im sorta tempted to get it as i did enjoy DOA3, but with both versions being online, on different discs and the limited number of people i do wonder how popular it'll be too.

No-one plays DOA1. At all. Since I got the game a week ago, I haven't seen a single person on Xbox Live for that game, which is a shame. Maybe we should get an rllmuk DOA1 league going or something.

They've made the counter system a bit harder in this (you now need to push forward to counter a kick and back to counter a punch). And it seems pretty popular, though it is VERY dependent on the quality of the connection you get. It's very hard to play against Americans because of the lag, though I've had a couple of good games. Can't wait for the Brits to get online so I can finally get cracking.

I always preferred the counter system in one, it had a better flow to it if you know what I mean, but the Danger Zone idea was pants. The environments are much better now.

Since it's £32 online I've cancelled my order and will hopefully pick it up day of release from GAME for £30. Don't think I'll get to play it much on friday but the weekend should be fun.

That sound naff

The thing I liked about DoA was the fact that you had a magic button that did cool things if you pressed it at the right time.

It was ideal for people who arent good at fighters (like me).

Now I have to co-ordinate a direction with that button push, a direction that will be determined by what the other character looks like they might be doing...

I'm sure it'll be good but why is DoA making me think ... I've never had to do that before when playing it ;)

Damn you. What's it like, then? Lag?...

So far? Not great

I've not played a lagless game yet - saying that, I'm the only brit in the village at the moment, I swear. Also, my connection has been a bit iffy this evening so current circumstances mean I ain't the best person to ask. I'm hoping it'll sort itself out in time for Friday, when we'll all no doubt get a decent game with a lobby full of normal people.

As far as the game itself goes it's still Virtua Fighter lite with pretty costumes.

The dreaded UK upload strikes again, eh?

Might give it a miss...

Guest nomenclature

I was going to give this a go even though online fighting games generally strike me as pretty pointless due to lag.

It doesn't sound like it'll be worth it through wireless + flatmates playing their stupid MMORPGs all the time. I guess it'll be interesting to see what UK vs UK is like.

Hmm. Im not a big fan of fighting games so I'm still pretty undecided over this. The lobby thing sounds tres cool though.

I might try and pick up a copy early tonight, but if its laggy and crap its going back Monday.

I really should stress how shit my ISP can be from time to time - don't let it sway you any because it's quite possible you won't suffer the same kind of lag I have at all.

I've a feeling as more British people and forum folk make their way online, it'll be a far smoother experience. From what I have seen, the lobby aspect works really well - people gather together and the running commentary and collection of gasps and wow's make for a really fun environment.
