mlewis
Couldn't find the post or poster who originally raised the issue but someone complained that their brother or someone started a new game that seemingly wiped out his 30hr save, or thereabouts - well, just to let them know that if you press X on the save/load screen, it should switch characters and all your previous saves with the other character should appear. Then you can go on and finish it and join the rest of us in weeping real salty tears at the butchered, infuriating ending. Ahem. Very butchered. Damn PC police.Looking at the reports of the ending- apparently finished but cut on LAs demands for being too dark makes me weep. This wpuld have been the best RPG plot of modern times. Damn commercialism.
Roblet
Finished it last night (56 hours, male lightside Jedi Weapon Master). First of all: The ending. In fact, the whole plot. Just. Whaaa? Click For Spoiler I got the bit about me being a wound in the Force like Darth Nihil, but I'm still not exactly sure what happened at Malachor V, as I encountered the bug where Bao-Dur refuses to speak to me (I picked up a vague impression of some atrocity involving a "gravity well", but that was about it.) I'm also not really clear on what Kreia's plan for me was... the stuff she says at the end is rather vague. Did I fulfil her intentions or thwart them? What was all that stuff about me killing the Force? The last planet just felt a bit wrong all round, really, I'm not surprised to find that it's the result of deadline-based butchering. As a whole, the game is clearly unfinished... masses of bugs, glitches and rough edges. Yet I still rather loved it (God knows I wouldn't have devoted this much time to it otherwise)... the script is generally great, I cared for the characters, levelling up is still compulsive, and the light/dark conversations are handled just as well as in the original. Shame about the vague (censored?) ending. Still, hopefully the game's commercial success will finally convince someone to start releasing more WRPGs on consoles... Warszawa
Okay, I loved the first game - As in one of my absolute favourite games of this gen and one of the very few RPGs I've ever actually finished love. It's payday tomorrow and I find my urge to buy this rising, despite the middling reports. Is doing so worth my while?
winkerwatson
To be honest , yes. I perfer the storyline to the first game. Far better written and not as clear cut. Your second trip to Dantooine has some fantastic direction as well. The ending is shit but we know how it was supposed to play out. fucking LucasArts. Matt Defis
Got it on PC and love it. The backstory is without a doubt the star of the game. If you get influence with everyone you find out a hell of a lot about Pre/Post KOTOR revan and malak, what they did where they came from and where they went and are going. Your char has a lot of connections with revan and finding out those connections and where there gonna lead is excellent. The way things unfold can only be the work of a true jedi/sith master. winkerwatson
It's the moral ambiguity that I really enjoyed. Especially with Kiera. And Atton had a good backstory as well. Apart from the ending the only other real problem is that the sith Lords were a bit underused. Especially the one whose name begins with N. Can't remember how to spell it. The new lightsaber colours are nice as well.
Space Renegade Ulala
On the Sith run now, I'm finding loads that I missed, a fair few sub-quests and a stack of info from Kreia, who I pissed off into virtual silence first time round. There were also scenes with her teaching extra abilities that I failed to spot as well, including a great scene where we start hearing the thoughts of the other ship mates: Disciple - Musing about the fallen Jedi Visas - Recalling and despairing about her planet Bao-Dur - Pledging devotion and thinking about Malachor-bloody-V again (Kreia can't read him, either - I rule) And what of Atton? What grim thoughts is he pondering? He was thinking about Pazaak! Actually, there's a very good reason why but it's a funny and nicely done scene. My attempts to be unstoppably evil are naturally being held up by all the damn light points I'm accumulating in trying to win influence over the others. It's worth it, though, as Atton almost looks as bad, pale and veiny as me now. I take back what I said about Kreia in my initial posts. Yes, she is a massive bitch but she's also the best mentor in a Star Wars anything to date. Very nicely acted, too.
winkerwatson
Indeed she is. I managed to get all that stuff from her when I was pure lightside though. The Sith Lords here make you realise how crap Malak was. Really weak design and voice acting. Only just done my first playthrough. Only got Handmaiden trained. Never managed Mira, influence on Atton came late and Bao-Dur was bugged (all conversation trees are inaccessible). Made the last planet quite confusing that did. And why can't he wear Jedi robes? My dreams of turning him into Darth Maul were crushed. Takes ages to get red lightsaber crystals as well.

My first game turned out nicely - Atton and Disciple both became Jedi, though Mira was impossible to even influence (I guess doing Nar Shadarr next-to-last wasn't long enough to get to know her). Apparently, to get Bao-Dur influenced, you have to take him with you virtually all the time on Nar Shadarr, Dxun and Onderon, which just ain't gonna happen as far as I'm concerned (like Joe said, it's all down to that psychokiller-paedo voice of his). GOT0's another one who just gets left behind - ugly, annoying and nowhere near as cool as the '47. Actually, if there is a follow-up (and last I heard, it had been canned before this had even been released due to LA cutbacks), T3 and 47 had better damn well be in it. The best droid pairing, bar none.
Roblet
Tssk, I've now read up a bit on just how utterly butchered that ending was. Instead of the best ending ever, we get an unbelievably weak hack+slash marathon stripped of narrative almost altogether, and making no sense. Fuck Lucasarts, and fuck their cynical, moneymaking, rush-it-out-for-a-pre-Christmas-release bullshit. Fuckers. Anyway. On the plus side, we still have about 80% of a great RPG, which is a lot better than nothing. Next playthrough: Female darkside Jedi Consular. I hope to have lots of fun using Force Persuade, and hopefully this time I'll be able to get HK47 to talk to me... we can spend quality time together, bonding over the slaughter of innocents. winkerwatson
What makes the ending even more annoying is that it wasn't the time constraints that buggered the ending, it was Lucas Arts. They said it was too dark for Star Wars (bodes well for ROFS). It was all implemented (text files have been left in the game. Obsidian just weren't given time to replace anything. And I got enough influenece with Mira. I just never took her back to Nar Shadaar to let her feel the force. Even though I got Handmaiden trained I never used her. My team was nearly always Keira and the blind woman (name is a blank) Could ahve been the best RPG of this generation. Just the story never comes together. Up until the last planet its amazing. Best RPG villan for a long time as well (shows Sephiroth and the like for the pubescent shite they are)

Yes, she is a massive bitch but she's also the best mentor in a Star Wars anything to date. Very nicely acted, too. Yup. She's an amazing character all round. Click For Spoiler Did anyone else submit to the rag-tag council's punishment on Dantooine? Kreia stepped in and slaughtered them on my behalf: her little speech in this bit was stunning. "You are beautiful to me, Exile." Creepy bint! I'm also a bit gutted that I never acheived her challenge of turning my weakest skill into my strongest; wonder what that would've netted me? Atton's bit about playing pazaak in his head was brilliant, too. Really got me thinking about his past. Argh, and who was the female jedi who turned him away from the sith? So much left hanging.. winkerwatson
Yeah I got that as well, that whole scene was brilliant in both scripting and directing Click For Spoiler "You were blind"/"You saw"The improving your lowest skill (demolitions for me) gets you a bonus in that skill and in your highest skill. And yeah the pazak scene was good as well. I don't suppose anyone can tell me what happened at the battle of Malachor, Bao Dur never spoke to me. jonny_rat
A couple of bonus skill points as far as I can remember. Nothing particularly exciting. Awwww. Ah well. Space Renegade Ulala
Bastila recording? God damn it, my repair skill's always been off the charts and I never got one of those! There's also no chance of me making my weakest skill my strongest, either - my persuade and repair are already around 15/16 about halfway through while my stealth (2pts a point) is at 1. Pah. What level did the rest of you finish the game at? My first run ended as a nigh-on unstoppable lightsider at Lv27 but I stumbled upon this on the CHUD boards today: "I am now 24+ hours into my full dark side game (on Korriban and about to confront Sion for the first time)... and I am a Guardian/Sith Lord at Level 43. Yes, that is right: FORTY-THREE. In fact, I am such an unfuckwitable Sith Lord that some opposing characters now run away from me instead of fighting. And the game start up screen now features my character instead of Sion/Nihilus/Traya. Pure fun." Holy moley. At first I thought it was a wind-up but it would appear not and the level cap is apparently 50. Are there really that many quests and enemies? Surely you'd run out of feats and powers by then??? Guest nomenclature
I think there's a point on Korriban where you can "touch" one of the skeletons in a "special place" and it'll keep on spawning those beasties. Hence potentially infinite experience for the bored/braindamaged. I think I got to level 26 or something but I had pretty much everything I could need/want. My strength was something like 38 with equipment by the end. Combine that with Force Jump and you've got comedy gold. The game is so easy any combination is more than viable. winkerwatson
Did anyone not become a Jedi Master/Sith Lord. I wonder if the other classes are worthwhile considering that you can't train the other characters. Also, will no one explain Malachor V for me? Space Renegade Ulala
I went Master and this one's going to be a Sith Lord. The other classes just don't interest me, they sound much more combat orientated...
Space Renegade Ulala
Also, will no one explain Malachor V for me? Just piecing it from the bits I picked up in the two games... Click For Spoiler It was the final battle of the Mandalorian Wars, where Canderous and co got their arses handed to them. Unfortunately, this was done mainly via setting off a massively destructive shadow bomb(?) (which Bao-Dur had at least a hand in designing if not for responsibility) that wiped out virtually every living creature on the planet and rendered it a dead wasteland more or less forever. Bao-Dur and the player character both felt the guilt and horror of the destruction more than most, hence Bao-Dur's tortured psyche and the player's sub-concious rejection of the Force and the wound in which it caused.Or something. winkerwatson
Yeah I went Guardian then Master. That seems to give balance between combat and power. I'm going to have to go through the first game as Sith before I replay this, never bothered before. And I only used one (viridian) lightsaber. It seemed more fighting to concentrate on dueling rather than a double blade or a short saber in the off hand.
winkerwatson
Cheers for that Ulala. It was the generator stuff that I never knew about.
Space Renegade Ulala
As far as classes go, I'm Consular all the way. Nice amount of skills points, enough of the feats that matter (master flurry & critical strike, duelling/two handed depending on preference) to get you comfortably through any sabre fight (with the possible exception of Malak at the end of the first game, who was a *bit* of a hardnut) and Force powers and points by the bucketload. Lovely. That said, I've never actually tried Guardian, I always looked down my nose at it. I tried Sentinel once and it was rubbish but I imagine a Guradian with two-handed maxed and some wicked crystals in each sabre would be unstoppable. Probably my favourite moment from the games was just before meeting Malak on the Leviathan, a room full of troopers, officers, grenadiers and some dark Jedi - I force waved the lot of them into the walls and walked out unharmed after only 2 rounds. Fuck Yoda.
Matt Defis
For the bastila holocron on Korriban revan has to be a darkside male and you must get the thorium charges to blow open the door from within the academy. WARNING do not bash containers in the academy or the thorium charges explode, pick the lock or use a mine.......yeah that last on confused me as well
jonny_rat
I just can't resist the weapon stuff though. I went the weapon master route, took all the combat and two-weapon feats, and put that silver-green double-bladed saber to work.. Having all the stat boosting force powers already, getting force enlightenment was magic. Each of Scion's energy bars was gone in a round or two; I kinda wished for a dialogue option saying "Well, we can do this all day if you like. Up to you, man!" winkerwatson
On the last planet it was all about Force Lightning. Open a door and theres a Sith Lord, some Dark Jedi and loads of sith Commando's. Two rounds and its over.
