Death From Above 1979

Last week I heard a song on MTV2. I only heard it once there, but i fucking loved it.

That song - Blood on our hands. The Band - Death from Above 1979.

This first interest sparked a flurry of downloading from the 'net. Every song I got was ace, so off I trot to Amazon to get the album.

Along with the amazing Frances the Mute, this arrived today, and it's everything I wanted. Although I had heard almost all of the songs before, they sounded better than before, and the sparkling gems of new songs were a joy. Then, there was the bonus disc with remixes, all brilliantly unique in some way.

I advise anyone and everyone to get this, or to at least download a couple of tracks to listen to (I'd reccomend Blood on our hands and Black History Month as good starting points)

I don't usually go this overboard over new bands, but these guys are seriously fantastic.

I got the album yesterday, it is, indeed, pretty good. I wouldn't advise downloading the first track though, I think it gives the wrong impression, sounds like a below average metal song to me.

Other than the first track it's a good album, I'm not as enthusiastic as redbloodcell but deffinetly worth a listen if you're tired of The Bravery, Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs etc.

I LOVE DFA'79! I got in to them when they supported the KILLERS!! Yeah I know it doesn't suit but still they supported th killers.

Their music is powerful and amazing for two people. They rewarded me for some pics i took with a guestlisting to a gig. SO I went and they were amazing.

I saw them on that tour too, in the Colchester Arts Centre. Great band, really enjoyed them live.

Fucking hell, I never come to the music forum, and what do I see when I do? How serendipitous.

I remember seeing them advertised as playing at the charlotte once a few years ago, nearly going on on the whim, but deciding I'd better bugger off and meet my mates in a club like I'd said. Thought I'd catch them next time round. Then they break up a week or so later.

I'll be keeping an ear out, definitely.

I haven't played guitar for a while, but dfa are the root of some of my most fond rsi-related memories outside of pornotube.

I saw over a hundred gigs at The Charlotte, theirs was the best one. Stunning.
