Travelling From Teldrassil

A friend of mine has just started playing as a Night Elf, and wants to know how long it's going be before he can travel to Azeroth, where me and the rest of my mates are currently hanging out.

If it's going to be too long (weeks), he'll just start another character.

Anybody help?

If he'll need an escort, how do we go about going to get him?

Just go to the town, pick him up, and he can follow you... there is no limit requiring you to stay in one town, you can venture to and from any towns if you so wish.. Just be careful not to be killed too often when venturing between towns and try to stick to roads..

Adding him to a party would show you on the map exactly where he is located, adn you can just head towards him, or other way 'round, he can head towards you...

I know exactly where he is. He's on the small island of Teldrassil, just north of the Horde continent (I forget what that's called). I've no idea how to get to or from that island, though.

From Darnassus he needs to hop into a portal in the city this will bring him out at Rutheran Village where he can get the flight to Auberdine. That will put him on the main Kalimdor continent at least. I'm not sure where Azeroth is though?

Azeroth's on the other continent (Lordaeron). Getting to Auberdine's a good start, but it's still a hell of a trek from there.

I thought Azeroth was the name of the world, not the continent? The continents are iirc called Kalimdor and The Eastern Kingdoms. Lordaeron is also the name of a city, not the continent, and it doesn't actually exist any more as such; the ruins give way to the underground city of the Undead, The Undercity. Or am I completely wrong?

You could well be completely right. Azeroth was written at the bottom of the continent I was looking at (in the PDF version of the manual), and it's not really very clear what it's referring to.

If you look at the map, you'll note that the Eastern Kingdoms is actually two seperate chunks, with a gap between them (not sure if they're technically seperate continents or not, i doubt Blizzard have really thought about the geography/geology in that amount of detail...). Azeroth is both the entire world, and the southern part of the Eastern Kingdoms (the northern part being Lordaeron).

Actually, checking the manual, it seems Azeroth is only the bit of the lower section from the human lands southwards, with the dwarven bit in the middle being called Khaz Modan...
