Oh certainly, that it was!

The glove attack made me jump out of my skin at one point, even though it was ripped straight out of Aliens.

On a lighter note, the headstand vomiting was both disgusting and hillarious. Especially Jack's reaction. :D

I think it was definitely a face-hugger reference, especially as it came just after a line ending "It's the only way to be sure."

I thought Reset was good - but I thought Martha really jarred. I realised how much the Torchwood team has grown on me and Martha's knowing winks annoyed me a bit.

was fine by the end of the programme though.

Also - realised how much I'd grown to like Owen. If he leaves, there's going to be a bit too many burds in the team.

The BBC Three ep was enjoyable, but I agree with Pickford, I didn't really get the story fully.

I didn't understand why death vanished/'died' when he faced Owen. Is it because death x death = life (of sorts)? However, next weeks did look excellent and the Captain Jack immortality/Owen being dead but alive narrative could have interesting developments, also like how they are making the episodes follow one another in a sense a la Heroes/Lost/24 etc.

Also: Jack speaking what I believe to be cockney. Hilarious.

I thought it was because Death only had a short time to harvest thirteen souls before it returns to wherever it was, and Owen managed to keep it busy long enough for it to use up all of its energy/magic/plot fuel.

That's it exactly.

Just seen this week's BBC3 episode. Torchwood really is the daftest thing on TV.

Only on this program could a central character's struggle with death translate to him literally wrestling an eight-foot tall skeletal Grim Reaper.

Not the greatest episode ever - I prefer the ones that are slightly more grounded in reality. However,

Owen as a near-invincible devil-may-care super zombie

should be pretty cool. I wonder how long they'll keep it going for?

Massive S4 spoilers follow:

I'm increasingly concerned that RTD isn't going to pull off writing for Davros well. He's not a comic character at all; he needs to have an undercurrent of seriousness and intensity to work. You need to be able to see where he's coming from in a way that repels you, and it is very difficult to play him for laughs. All the other returning classic villans have been easy to write for and easy to reinvent. Davros isn't. Done wrong it's going to be a bit of a mess.

Of course, as always I hope I'm wrong and would love to be.

Watched it on BBC2 just now and laughed at exactly the same moment. Surely it's intentionally tongue-in-cheek?

BB3 episode...Interesting..

Was her name Maggie Harper? (i.e. like Owen Harper?)

I wanted her to jump...just to be different from the expected ending

Not sure how I feel about it. Good moments with a bad overall episode I think

This weeks (BBC3's episode) was terrible. Owen has neither the screen presence or acting ability to pull off what was expected of him. If acting range could be measured in numbers, his could be measured with binary digits.

I have to say though, with his complexion, kudos to his parents for having the foresight to name him Burn.

I thought the BBC3 episode was rather good. Pretty bleak in places, but effective.

I think the idea of making Owen "fragile", instead of giving him the expected superpowers, is frankly genius. Especially as the character was such a headstrong one. I also thought it was great to leave the fate of the woman attempting suicide open.

Next week's looks nuts though, in a good way.

EDIT: You're all rubbish.

Oh and ermmm...

for someone who couldn't breath, in order to save a mans life, he sure does a shit load of talking. Jesus, how thick do they think the audience are?

I picked up on that too, but its one of those things where dramatic license overules real-world rules.

The rest of Owen's predicaments are really quite original, and taking away his speech would be a step too far. It's a justifiable tweak, and makes about as much sense as the Grim Reaper being real. ;)

I did like how they handled Owen's zombie status. Making him fragile prevents him from being another "Can't be hurt" character like Jack.

Yes the breathe thing was stupid

I did like the cover the rest of his body functions well. I forget who said it, but one of the writers of Buffy said that it they played it accurately and vampires didn't get erections that's the entire love story out the window ;)

What the fuck is he playing on his iPod on BBC3? Weirdest tune ever.

It was 'Atlas' by Battles. Excellent tune, the episode picked up from that point really.

Enjoyed it a lot more than last weeks, thought it was really well directed too.

Owen's story can't just end there for me. I mean, what happens if he gets his half his head blown off? He's still alive? That'd be extremely awkard to explain at parties. They'll probably just avoid it happening, but I liked his gloved hand however. Twas like Arnie from T2.
