Transformers the movie is ace. end of. its cheesy, it has really good animation, quotable lines ("Wait!! I still function!" "wanna bet?") as well as Leonard Nimoy, Eric Idle, Orson Wells and Robert Stack. AND the best 80's soundtrack ever. (I actually have the soundtrack on cd. was gobsmacked when i found it at Chesterfield flea market about 8 years ago. )

Transformers The Movie was great. I watched it when I was too young to pay attention to it but a few years ago I borrowed the VHS off a mate and it's AWESOME .

I cried when Optimus Prime died, for a start. I bet many of you did too, but you couldn't admit it here. Compared to the pap of Digimon - The Movie and Pokemon - The First Movie (OHNOS! More!), it's fucking great. Beautiful animation (and a lot of strobe-inducing flashing), a rather epic cast including - c'mon - Orson Welles as Unicron, for fuck's sake. Oh, and one of the best cheesy 80's rawk soundtracks around.

I will always love this movie, but then I'm an unashamed TF nerd (i.e. I can't see past the nostalgia).

It was so cool when it came out on DVD and I could finally listen to it in Dolby.

I can't wait to see what they do with the new one.

I remember going through a massive phase while working in Richmond with a fellow colleague. We both got into this Transformer phase and even started ordering DVDs from certain series and I even bought the film with Spike saying "Shit" and Ultra Magnus saying "Dammit"

It is cheesy, it is a straight forward plot, but my God, they pulled it off in style. I know it was criticised for being an 90 minute toy advert, but back then when I was little, I didn't care to notice that, I just enjoyed the film and the scene with Optimus Prime dying is soul destroying, the best Autobot EVER dying right at the start of the film, who would ever do that now?!

As nostalgia it is brilliant and is a major part of my childhood.

He was also a shit toy. Optimus Prime painted white and shoved into a tacky cheap plastic body. I miss my Transformer toys, except Scorponok - which still survives today. The bigger the Transformer, the bigger the excitement come Christmas Day. *sigh*
