What Are You Playing?

I'm back on Hitman: Blood Money! Finished it today, on the easiest difficulty that is, and I've started on the next level up. The more I play it the better I get, and today I've been playing the Vineyard level over and over to see the different ways it can be completed. Brilliant game tbh.

Been playing Prey too. It's solid, if a little underwhelming. There's just not enough ammo though, I want unlimited ammo for that acid gun pls.

As for the handhelds- Tony Hawk is still being played on the DS, mixed in with the odd bout on Super Princess Peach. I can't remember the last time I charged my PSP, let alone played it.

Don't get me wrong, all the bike stuff is neatly done, and some of the earlier combat situations are exciting without being excruciating, but towards the tail end of the second disc, the risible 'plot' comes back into play and all the bad angles and shit combat in the universe descends upon it. It's aged. Badly. But then again, most games do.

And Headhunter is still awful, no matter which way you cut it.

Started on this a while back, I like the premise, but the camera's a bitch and the stealth system is flawed. Whoever decided to assign 'stealth attack' and 'distract' to the same button is an idiot.

Also playing:

Skies of Arcadia (DC) - finally got the big Valuan ship. This game is REALLY long though, I'm almost 30 hours in and still on Disc 1.

Bangai-o (DC) - Deceptively hard, but I'll keep playing for the Engrish.

Mars Matrix (DC) - Addictive shooter, pity there's no tate mode.

I'm still playing WoW but I've been spending time on other games lately.

During the last couple of weeks I've been playing The Ship a lot, DoD Source, another restart on HL2, Need For Speed Most Wanted and The Movies Stunts and Effects.

Resident Evil 4 GC. Just started my second playthrough and I'm really enjoying it. Amazing game.

Me & My Katamari on PSP too... it's in Japanese so I feel like I'm missing out on some of the Kings ramblings but on the whole it's great. There's a better sense of getting the Katamari absolutely huge then in We Love Katamari. The controls are surprisingly OK too in a shocking development, even though my thumb has developed muscles I didn't know it had.

Waiting for Starfox to arrive.

I'm currently playing Metal Gear Subsistence on the PS2. Played it for about 10 hours when I first got it (5 months ago) but haven't had time since. Dusting it off i've found that its awesome but my Metal Gear skills are well and truely gone with age! :D I struggle to even creep up on people these days and usually end up with a massive gun battle and a lot of running!! graphics are gorgeous though.

Also been back playing Ridge Racer on the PSP. Thought I'd get through to the end of the tours before I get Ghost & Goblins but wasn't expecting Max Tour mode! Wow, this games difficulty has suddenly been cranked up ! Can't even beat the first race at the mo. Is it actually true when it says 1 in 200 people are only expected to beat it?! Anyone on here finished all the Opus tracks?

Pikmin 2.

Never played the first one and only picked this one up because it was cheap in WHSmiths. Can't understand why I never got round to buying it before, loving it.

Digidrive (GBA): Still completely addicted to it. It's complusive and infuriating at the same time and theres always some room for improvement on your next go.

We Love Katamari (PS2): Well, love is a bit strong. I like it but I don't love it. Its irksome because Im sure it only gets all the praise it does because of its style and Japanese-ness. I like how it plays, kinda (it's very relaxing) and it feels very charming with its legoland graphics. But I'm not a fan of the presentation inbetween, and the music is very dissapointing. There seems to be no major gameplay hook thats going to get me to play again and again. I remain a bit unconvinced either way about it all.

Gunstar Super Heroes (GBA): I really really love it. Not as good as the original, finished it very quickly but I keep coming back for small chucks of pure 16-BIT GAMEPLAY :P

Powerdrome (Xbox): Suprisingly decent. Its a bit like Star Wars Racer and Quantum Redshift. Has a nice clean look to it and some nice long fast tracks. Handling is a bit rubbish (no weight to the ships so tend to bounce round corners). Full 60fps, no glitchiness (a rare occurance for Xbox games), quick loading and some lovely subtle effects. Really quite like it.

F-Zero GX (GC): The fairground ride to Powerdrome's country lane walk. Everythings buzzing and moving and you have little time to take it all in. Gobsmackingly brilliant fun and the handling is much better than I remember.

Metal Gear Solid!

Grim Fandango!

Hardwar!

World Of Warcraft (sometimes)!

Oh and the occasional game of Tetris DS but after seeing falling bricks and working out routines during everyday tasks/when I close my eyes/try to get to sleep - i've decided to give it a little rest.

I'm having a mad 360 session at the moment. I have Saint's Row and Enchanted Arms on the go, about 12 hours between them at the weekend, and I also have Test Drive Unlimited on the way. I bought Dead Rising but I've only played it for an hour or so, it's pretty shit so I haven't played it since.

In other news, I've downgraded my PSP firmware and I have the latest version of DGEN- apart from the fact that it won't seem to play Streets of Rage 2, the Sonic series has never looked better :D

Disgaea 2: which isn't really that different by the looks of it, but I love having the grid back. Haven't played it much yet.

Yakuza: which is pretty fucking great you fucking shit fucking fucker fuck bastard. Apart from the lack of a decent lock-on feature in fights. Slamming the mans into walls never gets old.

And Eve: which I've suddenly got back into.

After a summer of not touching 'proper' consoles, and purely playing DS, I dusted off the xbox and restarted Half-Life 2 last night.

I enjoyed it a lot first time round, but it wasn't the second coming I was expecting, partly due to the hype it'd received, and partly cos of the looooong loading times. Also I didn't think the game ever matched the expectations set by the masterful opening section (before you receive any weapons).

However, this time round I'm able to appreciate everything much more as I know what to expect. Obviously the art direction is spot-on. A shining example of realistic graphics, but with PROPER THOUGHT put into design, colourscheme, etc. I love the threatening hue of the sky. Mmmmmm

Plus I'm a bit better at the game generally this time. It's great, and the loading times aren't gonna bother me so much this time, apart from when they appear halfway up/down a staircase in a house, meaning you're less inclined to move around the house freely.

Anyone with a modded xbox played this directly from the hard drive? How quick does it load?

Skies Of Arcadia - My characters are probably a level or two above what they need to be due to another "where am I supposed to be going" world tour. I probably won't get the chance to finish it until next year.

Ikaruga - DC to PS2 converter won't work properly, so I can't play this right yet. Love the aesthetics though.

Just Cause - I've had more fun with this than I had with Vice City or San Andreas tbh. Keep crashing into wire fences and wondering why they're not falling over ala GTA.

God Hand - I'm a bit shit at this but I keep coming back for more.
