What Are You Playing?

Is anyone else finding it too hot to play games? I've bought games recently and played them for 1/2 an hour to an hour to get a feel for them, but I just can't play in this debilitating heat ;)

Quick-fix gaming is your friend. DM #5 addresses this, but I don't know when in Summer it'll actually be released... :(

Currently playing Burnout Revenge on the 360. Had the origional on Xbox but I fancied a good racing game on the 360 aside from PGR3 (which I despise since I hate realistic driving games). Loving the extra crash courses, cra damage and the "JESUS H CHRIST" graphics.

Also pottering away through Kameo, I actually like this as it's easy to do in a few minutes a day at leisurely pace. Beautiful graphics and the warrior system is quite cool.

I've also got GR:AWand Rockstar Table Tennis to complete but I'm leaving those alone for a while.

Advance Wars on the DS is getting used when I'm not writing my book. Brilliant game, just like the old games but the new control method just...works. Dual Battle mode does tend to get a little complicated when you end up commanding 6 C.O's in one battle mind.

Dragon Quest, still.

Really, really good. Most reviews say this, but although it doesn't do anything special, it does everything really, really well. An excellent game to last the summer dry season.

Aside from that I'm eyeing up Rhythm Tengoku, which looks aces, and will probaby be the second GBA game I've bought in 2 years of ownership...

Im just back from America and I got myself a ds lite there is so much of a difference how crisp and clear the screen is I can't play my old ds now because of the difference. But back to the point I'm playing:

Metroid Prime Hunters: Very good, At times quite easy and at others not so easy. Multiplayer is excellent I've only had 2 games online but I've played loads on the offline multiplayer. Still havent completed it though so I will be doing that soon now that I'm jetlagged.

Super Mario Brothers: Really good and I'm enjoying it alot the ds lite screen completes this game and makes it even better. I still havent completed it but im close to I'm on the last level which is quite hard. Multiplayer is ok and fun at times.

Brain age: Didnt know how fun maths and memorising stuff could be. This game is so fun and I'm still trying to increase my brain age.

Prey: Iv only played story mode so far but so far im enjoying it. Its fun and crazy but not too hard Iv played 5 levels and have only died twice.

Trace Memory - picked up on cheap, as I've heard it's quite short.

Ouendan - can never get enough of this game, even though it's way too hard for the likes of me.

Pro Evo 5 - the Master League is always worth it.

Brain Training - the quest to get my actual brain age continues.

Electroplankton! Beautifully designed and you can lose yourself for hours in it, especially hannebow/beatnes.

Animal Crossing WW also, it's great dipping in for half an hour every other day to catch up with the townsfolk, sell/buy and do a spot of fishing. Much better than the gamecube version imho, although i've yet to play it over wifi.

I'm now stuck on HL2: Episode 1. I've got this room with some laser tripmines and flammable gas in it, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it. I've brought in a bin and tried to use it to jump the lasers, but the bin always tips over into the path of the lasers afterwards.

The weather is really affecting what games I'm playing, mainly due to the fact my flat has the crappiest blinds in the living room ever which means the sun shines directly onto my TV pretty much all day which can make it impossible to play my console games because of the massive glare. Anyway...

Dragon Quest: Fifty odd hours in and trying to complete it whenever the sun decides to pop behind a cloud for a bit. Nearing the end now, really enjoyed it and it's lasted me ages, whether or not I actually beat the last boss remains to be seen.

Meteos: Put this back in my DS today and been hooked in again, trying to unlock a few new planets to play on.

New Super Mario Bros: Completed this a few days ago, though only in defeating Bowser still need to get a few coins and open up World 7.

Animal Crossing WW: Been in my DS since it came out over here, still paying that git Nook off and now have finally got the hang of fishing.

A house move and extended building work has meant my consoles have been out of action for several weeks now, leaving me with handhelds and PC games only. It's been a nice change of pace actually and I've picked up a few bits and pieces I might otherwise have neglected. Daxter on the PSP was fantastic and Everybody's Golf just keeps on giving.

Currently playing:

Medieval: Total War - only ever played Rome before; this is at least as good and hasn't dated as much as I would have expected.

New Super Mario Brothers - utterly underwhelming, too short and too easy with nothing really new in it at all. It also has the world's most stupid save system.

Space Cowboy Online (PC): doing missions in the mountain area, where tight canyons quickly result in me banging off walls and dying repeatedly, no matter how levelled up my "defense" skill might be.

I started playing that the other day, been playing it quite a lot as I have nothing else to do.

It's more annoying bouncing off the edge of the maps where there's nothing <_<

Tekken Dark Resurrection (PSP) - Ooh, this was a slight surprise. Put it on to test it out between LocoRoco levels and haven't been able to prise it out of the PSP since. It's slightly overwhelming - fifteen thousand characters available from the start, along with several hundred game modes - but that's not a bad thing. One of the modes mimics the big single-player mode from VF4 Evo, which is an excellent thing to steal and should significantly increase the single-player lifespan of the game. I'm using Lili right now, as she's the default. Seems quite good. Quick. Great training modes, too. And Tekken Bowling is very addictive - and nets you loads of cash.

LocoRoco (PSP) - It's always lovely.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (DS) - Finally finished case four, hurrah! Haven't started the fifth yet.

Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS) - After seven months of daily play I finally shot down a UFO. Hooray!

Galaga (360) - It's growing on me. A bit. I'm very rubbish, though.

Lumines Mobile (MOB) - K800i joystick ever so slightly different from K750i joystick, meaning I push down instead of right a bit too often for my liking. I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Tower Bloxx (MOB) - Can't face starting the city-building mode over again quite yet, but I've played the quick game.

Three or so hours into Beyond Good & Evil and, my word, isn't it lovely? Just lovely. Lovely.

I love it and am finding it rather lovely.

The odd bit of Loco Roco in between times; I must say it hasn't grabbed me like it seems to have grabbed most people out there in internetland. No real motivation to persevere as it's all a bit samey. And the music grates after a while.

Yes, dead inside. BUT I LIKE BG&E SO SHUT YOUR COLLECTIVE FACES.

I love LocoRoco, including the lovely music, but BG&E never really grabbed me.

We must have half a soul each, or something.

Played Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones for a few hours yesterday.

Much, much better than Warrior Within, so far. Obviously it's not a patch on the first, but I was actually enjoying it. The design, backgrounds, environments etc are lovely.

I liked the short chariot bit. Like most, I find the constantly depleting health of dark prince annoying but it's not as bad as i'd been lead to believe. Good cutscenes too.

Wait till you get to a certain boss fight. The difficulty spikes and you have to watch the same cut scene again and again every time you die. Which you will do. Often. Because you have no idea how to defeat them.

After that is all good, though.

As for me, I'm currently about 60% of the way through World Xplorer mode in Ridge Racer 6. And I'm (slowly) making progress in Veteran mode of Call Of Duty 2. Plus I really need to finish Dragon Quest VIII.

Right after the second chariot race, right? That cutscene was actually funny the first time. But not the seventh, or the tenth.

Really enjoyed the rest of it, though.

I'm guessing you're flying then. Are you in a B-Gear or an I-Gear? (I am "qazi", hit Community whilst ingame and go to "Friend" to add me)

Oh, and when you hit level 11 let me know (that's when you have to chose your allegiance to one of two parties...your choice determines PvP and any further missions)

Personally I've only just unlocked another new area (rejoice), and I'm having fun dying at the hands of even harder NPC enemies. Yay.

That's the one. What makes it worse is, if you switch the game off and come back to the boss fight later, you have to do the chariot race again as well.

I'll give you that for nowt. I'm really enjoying it, even though it's nothing especially new. But only being able to save once you've collected 5 big coins or got to a castle is fucking mental. I genuinely don't understand its logic.

I completed a level yesterday, and had to start another just to get one more big coin, then dash to the end as quickly as possible, just so I could open up one of Toadsworth's cottages and save. Madness.

I'm level 22, joined BCU, I'll add you later, I'm in a B-gear.
