Finished Half Life 2 which did become really enjoyable in the second half and I felt it ended on a brilliant note. Almost nostalgic noticing the similarities to Half Life which actually made it feel less "new" than prehaps it should've been. Also noticed that Steam had given me Blue Shift and Opposing Force for free even though I've only ever bought the original HL. Played through both of them within a day and a bit :)

Played through Jak & Daxter over the course of about three days (100%'d it too). Pretty dissapointed with it really but I eat up platformers for breakfast. Far too forgiving, no secrets, and too bloody short.

Also been playing Trauma Center a lot and I've almost finished it I think. Never have I seen a game with such promise nose-dive into crapness and beyond. The silly thing is that the storyline, which is trash and should be elementary, impacts so directly on the gameplay.

Finally, I've been playing Streets of Rage because the game is amazing and the music is killer!

Skies Of Arcadia [DC]

Ah, the joys of selfbooting CDrips.

It's enjoyable, the pacing is just right, it starts with a bang ala FF7 and doesn't bog you down with stats and dialogue once you start playing. Apart from that, all the usual JRPG stuff, so I'm also playing Spot the Clichés.

The first boss is such a gayer, what's his name, Alfono or something? :)

Psyvariar [PS2]

This works with the latest version of HDLoader, so I'm tilting my TV sideways again. Only now it's an LCD screen not a 21" CRT, so it's well easy to get into. Brilliant shooter.

I've indulged my inner Replublican with Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2 on PS2. When it works, you feel like you're commanding a team of crack agents taking on a group of intelligent, if not thankfully psychic, enemy troopers.

When it doesn't, you feel like you're commandeering a team of crack addicts to take on a group of psychic, if unfortunately no intelligent, enemy troopers.

HL2 comes with the 'Valve Back Catalogue' which includes HL, CS, DoD, Blue Shift, etc etc.

I'm beginning to think this way too, I've gotten upto Chapter 5-2, and I dont think I'll ever get past it, it's just too frustrating. There are so many stupid tiny flaws in the game, that it really begins to fuck you off after a while. And the GUILT stuff is just no fun at all.

Everybody's Golf (PSP) - Got it when I bought the PSP way back in November and is the only game that I got with it that I still play today. I'm currently one star away from unlocking the Gold challenges and my current rating is EG Sage. The final course is a complete bitch though. Strong winds, narrow fairways, small greens with bunkers and O.B. areas everywhere.

Strider 2 (PSone) - Lovely game but a bit too easy, even on the hardest setting.

Strider (PSone) - It's great, but something always felt slightly odd about Strider and I still can't put my finger on what it is.

Dead Rising (360) - State of Emergency in a sandbox. Not a bad thing as long as you liked State.

Saints Row (360) - GTA3 + physics - charm - ambition = roll on 16/10/2007 = 0.00079761 = Do you see?

Time Crisis II (PS2) - Trying to convince a friend that she didn't look stupid playing with a plastic gun has got me addicted again. Still the best in the series.

Sonic 2 (Mega Drive) - Never played it two player before because nobody cared enough. Pwned by a girl.

F1 '06 (PS2) - Pretty spiffy except for a game crippling bug with 7-geared cars thinking they've only got 6 gears at random moments and difficulty levels that are either far too easy or far too hard.

Big Brain Academy and Brain Age (DS) - Helped me prepare for an aptitude test. Thanks Nintendo!

Finally making progress on Devil May Cry 3. I switched to Gunslinger style, replayed the earlier missions loads so I could afford to increase health and devil trigger, and suddenly it's all good.

Stage 15 so far, and loving it. ;)

Yeah, when you eventually find your style it's finally all good. It's just a barrel of laughs when you get past that first hurdle.

I need to go back to that actually, I've got a Level 3 Royal Guard/ Swordmaster Dante and I've only done Easy and Normal mode. Hard mode here I come.

Going back to my crack (addict) squad of Special (Needs) Forces, last night I watched one of them go tete-a-tete with a North Korean grunt, wobble at him for a full minute, then get shot in the head. I doubt this is an accurate US military tactic. C'mon, military combat sims, some AI would be nice.

I've been lured back to Oblivion (probably due the slightly less awesome weather) and am looking to finish off the main story this weekend, though anyone who's played it knows how hard it is not to get distracted... Loving it as much as when I first switched it on still, one of the downloadable sections has handed me some amazing new stealth armour too -_-

Other than that there are my regular PES matches with my housemate, also had a 8-way tournament the other week which was amazing fun!

I've restarted God Of War but i'm not sure i'll go all the way through, thinking about that Hades section thats still to come puts me off, but i'll go as far as is still fun.

Picked up Mario Kart DS yesterday and Metal Gear Acid 2, wich sems fun but a little complex for my brain and i'll be looking to carry on wth Dragon Quest when my next week off comes round.

Ooh and Cloning Clyde is genius!

Well, my ex-housemate stole my Cube for a while, and my parents went away, so I moved my Saturn down into the living room:

Dragon Force - This is the 2nd summer in a row I've come back to this and I love it. They could've made more of the tactical side in the actual battles but it's still great fun. I'm nearing the end of a campain with Leon of Topaz. We can only dream of a DS/PSP version.

Panzer Dragoon Saga - I have very little experience of RPGs but this is relatively enjoyable. I like the battles, although I can't figure out the rating system and there's actually not very much boring talking. I'm actually on a bit where you

lose your dragon for a while and it's a bit of a grind but can't wait to get him back.

Can't see me making it to the end but you never know.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - I love organising my clan and kitting everyone out, was expecting more of an RPG element but it's fun nonetheless. Battles seem to be either very hard or very easy. The only probalem I have with these type of games is that I never know who to take into the battles and I procrastinate over who deserves the EXP more, should I have 6 very strong members or a more even spread across the clan?!

Others: Mario & Luigi GBA, Phoenix Wright, It's Mr Pants, Shining Force III (very boring beginning though, and the first battle I found quite hard. Am playing on an emulator which isn't great. Tried the Saturn swap trick but have found it impossible).

To start list: Doshin the Giant, Shining Force GBA.

I'm playing Thief: Deadly Shadows at the moment. Later tonight I'm kicking my girlfriend out of the house whilst I tackle this fabled "Robbing the Cradle" level.

If it's not as good as everyone says, I'll eat my lungs.

Also interspersing that with a spot of Guitar Hero, and last night a few games of FIFA 2005 which is infinitely better than World Cup 2006.

Given that Disgaea 2 is on its way I have gone back to the first game to see out the main story at least, since its so humerous and generally whacky.

I find I am addicted to item world and have found a few legendry weapons worth improving - I know you can level up more quickly on some of the maps but it gets dull. So instead I hope to find invincibility tiles in the random maps which enable the weakest members of the team to level up quickly. Mind you if there are clones around I run like hell.

Looking at the original thread on this game I didnt realise Mr Gency's exit was meant to be a pun - it simply does not work in spoken English - I mean Mister Gency (with a hard G) = emergency?

Anyway I still have a game of FFVii progressing slowly.

On the 360 its demos only until the next plug in becomes available for Oblivion.

On DS I am about to start the last case of Phoenix Wright and hope it is of the same quality as the Turn around cases.

Finally got hooked back up to Xbox Live, so have been sampling the delights of numerous demos such as Lost Planet (awesome), Ninety Nine Nights (fun, yet a bit dull) and the brilliance that is Geometry Wars 2. I've played a little bit of Dead Rising too, I'm not quite feeling it though, which is a shame as I was looking forward to it. I'll give it more time.

And World of Warcraft, still, obviously.

Did you byu the 'Bronze' version of HL2 over Steam? I'm pretty sure the retail game comes with the back catalogue, as did the silver package. I assumed that the bronze version did too, but I may be wrong.

There aren't Bronze, Silver, or Gold HL2 packs any more. There's a Valve Complete Pack which includes all the Valve games on Steam ($80), and I got the Source Premiere Pack (HL:S, CS:S and all the HL2 stuff for $60).
