PS2: Devil May Cry 3, Psyvariar, Gradius V and the frankly fantastic Rogue Trooper. a bit odd to hear Rogue and the chips talk, but the Norts sounds *exactly* how i imagined  STAK! GENTIK INFANTRYMAN!!

Xbox: Half Life 2 and Halo

PSP: Winning Eleven 9. which i'm quite enjoying, despite being lost in a sea of Japanese when navigating the menus. but *damn* those loading times.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. I haven't played Pandora Tomorrow, but this is a definite improvment on the first game, though not as massive an improvement as I was expecting. I suspect that may partly be because I'm playing the PS2 version - sorry, it's all I've got!

While it's great that levels are rated, being the time attack freak I am it's a little annoying to find that best times aren't saved. Oh well.

I'm playing Thief: Deadly Shadows at the moment. Later tonight I'm kicking my girlfriend out of the house whilst I tackle this fabled "Robbing the Cradle" level.

Read this, I hope?

MGS3. Just bought another PS2 the other week after about a year and a half without. This was the last game I bought for that one, played about an hour then switched it off never to return. The camera is still frustratingly shit at times, the first hour or so is an absolute mess and it could do with VR missions or something to practice your CQC moves on. I'm a throat-slitting machine, I just cannot get the hang of grabbing them and doing something else with them.

But I persevered with it for a few hours yesterday and now I'm utterly engrossed in it. From the ridiculous Bondesque intro and title song about 90 minutes in, I've been totally hooked. Just did The Pain, now I'm trying to get into some lab in the middle of the jungle. SO glad I gave this another chance.

Yeah, neither the manual nor the in-game conversations explain CQC well - specifically, the difference between choking someone (tapping circle or holding it down while moving) and killing them (holding it hard). Other things about the control system are awkward and you have to find out for yourself, like every time you fire while holding a hostage, you have to quickly press circle again or you'll release them.

As for the camera, I haven't played the Subsistence version, but supposedly the new camera in that makes a big difference, and means you don't have to constantly switch to first person to check what's in front of you.

But largely thanks to the last couple of hours, IMO it's the best MGS game (I came to the first one very late - only last year - so I was disappointed by the sniper rifle backtracking and the short length of the second disc).

Guitar Hero is rocking my world... I love how I really feel like I'm getting better at it the more I play - I go back to songs that I thought impossible only a day or two ago and 90% them first time. It's amazing.

I've been getting urges to play Resident Evil 4 again from the start. I got about halfway through and stopped for some reason, but I think I'll enjoy it more this time.

Thanks to this forum all I'm playing at the moment is Ouendan - currently stuck at the Cops vs Giant robots on Normal mode.

Although I keep having urges to attempt to play the Bards Tale as I picked it up cheap but it's still in the wrapper ATM.

Snes: Final Fantasy VI. Now I have a US cart I can plat it without emulation \o/ I've not played it for about 7-8 years, and have been gagging to play it recently. Can't be bothered to wait for the gba version.

PsOne: Started Symphony of the Night this weekend and am finding it much less forgiving then Dawn of Sorrow in it's early stages. I'll persevere though!

Ridge Racer on PSP. Excellent. Dunno why I waited so long, really. Smooth handling, good analogue usage and excellent graphics. Like the way the drifting works at different levels and fuels your nitrous tanks. It took me a while to get use to controlling it (had to unscrew my OutRun head first) but it's sooo satsifying. Might even try out the DYN drift cars, just for a bit of challenge. Too sodding easy at the moment, and it's a bit on the dark side for the sunlight.

Also, I've nearly finished Half-Life 2, I think. 'Follow Freeman' is where I'm up to, and I've downed several striders already. I still have no idea what's going on with regards to the story, which is a shame.

I played a bit of Brain Training over the weekend. It's an excellent piece of software! Very clever and well put together.

Today I bought a preowned copy of Ninja Gaiden. Not sure why, as it'll probably pwn me hard and then be relegated to my shelf... :(

I so tried with NG - one of those games that gets an outing in my Xbox every 6 months or so in a vain attempt to get through it. It usually takes me all of a night to realise my skills are no longer up to it and place it back in the corner to gather dust again. ;)

VF - As always

Phoenix Wright - Brilliant

Shadow of the colossus - Somewhat late to the party and unsure of how I feel about the game to be honest. It's a great experience but I'm not so sure it's a great videogame.

How far are you getting with Psyvariar? I've been playing it myself lately, need to work on Photon cos I never really learned that one properly. The first two levels though, I suprised myself - couldn't remember what I used to do initially, as it'd been ages since I'd last played it, but my shooter 'instincts' soon took over and I started recreating my old routes through the levels purely through all the manoeuvres I learned.

Started Shining Force I (the GBA version) and am loving it. It doesn't look too great, compared to the likes of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, but I think I prefer it. It's all gone SRPG at the moment, god I wish I had a PS2 and Disgaea.

"Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory" on the X-Box.

It's pretty uninspired, to be frank, but the game-mechanics are very good and the graphics are awe-inspiring, so I'm trudging on.

Playing it makes me want to play a "Hitman" game.

I recently played "The Matrix: Path of Neo" and actually enjoyed it even though its a wildly uneven experience.

The fighting feels great and the graphics push my poor PS2 way past its breaking point (infact its the only console game I can remember that lets you turn graphical detail up or down.)

Picked up a cheap copy of Jade Empire, as preparation for Mass Effect. So far, I really like it. Great to look at, interesting storyline. Not mad on the combat, but it's ok.

Still playing AC:WW and brain training every day, but tiring of both.
