JoeK
Looks lovely and all, but for the love of god move the PS5 a little more to the right. It’s triggering my OCD that it’s not under the TV correctly

Shimmyhill
@ZOK it’s only a 48” telly so not big enough to hide behind it I did mention it was a temp setup to all the OCD crew… you should see the wiring behind it and out of shit

Popular Post AlanT
Updated my room recently, added new speakers for front left & right, second sub, made some changes to the shelving layout and also placed the PC in the small alcove where the Falcon used to be. Also added some noise cancelling foam squares behind seat as made a difference to the audio as have speakers around the room and in the ceiling.

Bucky
I also built myself a stupid standing desk in the outside office like a massive wanker. Obviously this was before I applied any cable management. Which thankfully is all sorted now.
Popular Post Wiper
Having gone through the garage to retrieve the last of the moving boxes, I finally have all of my favourite machines retrieved and set up in the nerd room more or less as I want them in the new house (the "or less" being that not all of them are actually hooked up — mostly out of good sense (I don't e.g. need the PS3 on standby while it's not in regular use), but also a few where bespoke cables have disappeared since moving (the poor Vitas)): As an added bonus, the shelves that make the background to my 'office' in the corner of same room are also mostly stacked appropriately now: Yes, my workmates are now extremely aware that I'm actually a giant child. Now I just need to tidy the rest of the room up — which is why I'm tactfully not including any photos of the room at large.
MattKB Posted Sunday at 22:21 Share Posted Sunday at 22:21 I’m after a bit of advice on this setup from the pros on here. For my home desk/work desk/pc gaming desk/miniature painting area I’m thinking of losing the riser to free up some desk space but it’s handy to have somewhere to put my laptop cables when I’m not using my work laptop. However, they’re always on show. Also, the small lamp is detached when not in use (used for painting) but the cable loops round the desk. Underneath the desk is quite tidy, with a usb hub and a ton of sockets (although most occupied now). Current layout: A) some usb cables are stuck behind the desk with clips, which works well B) My watch charger and watch, and headphones live on the base. Headphones can move to the drawer, but I need a solution for the watch if it’s not going to be on show (could live with a little stand with my Mac, which is on a hanging shelf under the desk) C) My work laptop HDMI and power cables. Always sit here loose as the wires are too big for the same clips that the other charging cables use to hang behind the desk D) A USB powered lamp which comes across my workspace for when I’m painting. When I detach it, I put it in the cupboard under the desk, it always stays plugged in E) the cable comes round the front of the desk when in use I think my best option is a monitor arm, but a vertical one - I don’t need to move it side to side, and if I did, the lights on the back of the monitor would cast a weird shadow. Then maybe look at getting a new light with a detachable usb cord, and that can live on the back of the desk with a clip, and find a similar solution for the HDMI and power cables. Other option is a riser with a shelf, which I can store my keyboard in when not in use (e.g. when using work laptop) and the other bits on the top, and get some sort of hook to screw in underneath to hoist up he power and HDMI cables. Got a Steam Deck on the way and thinking I’ll have another HDMI cable loose on top, managed by a HDMI switcher below (so Mac and Steam Deck into one switcher, the laptop display cable goes into the DVI of the monitor. Anyway, looking for some advice/options from the experience on here…

The worktops for all three desks are from: https://www.worktop-express.co.uk/kitchen-worktops The feet and cabinets are from IKEA. The standing desk is a Flytta. It was pretty pricey but worth it in the long run. https://sit-stand.com/meeting-room/flytta-team.html
Shimmyhill
Im finally getting my games room sorted, I (badly) fitted a blind yesterday, it was very cheap and a stop gap but I can see in the daytime now! I moved bits and pieces around and I also need to sort out my layout - its not a big room (first world problems I know) and making the best use of the space is trickier than you think, doesn’t help when I change the whole plan by getting back into racing…. So this is the PS5 with my ‘rig’.. The Ikea TV stand is temp, im likely to buy a frame on wheels thing to bring the TV right up to the steering wheel but allow me to move the TV around the room a bit. So the second use of the room is Lego displaying and I had a plan and list of units to buy but all out of the window now - using one from last house and playing around with display glass door things… There now isnt room for a second 3x4 Kallax unit but more room than a 2x4 would be and I dont think Ikea do a 5x4 so I have that space that will likely be another Kallax as there is much more Lego to display and purchase The rest of the room is taken up with a window, door opening and floor space to get the Bike turbo in, plan that it can run off the telly when its moved away from the wheel! The room is only 3.2m x 2m and I could easily fill twice that with the layout id like - im not sure about normal gaming sat in the racing seat but dont have enough room for another chair (again first world problems) weighed against not really using the PS5 for anything other than racing games!! But anyway, the view from the seat os good and its mega comfy to sit on - The quads arent likely to be hooked up either, I game with headphones and townhouse so dont want to upset the neighbours - never selling them tho, very expensive picture stands tho
