Silent Runner
I don’t understand these crosses in from the right. Laca is never beating Van Dijk in the air. Pretty good apart from that. Tierney and Martenelli down the left look like they’re on it.

Silent Runner
It was Saka at fault for the second. Frustrating to lose as a result of stupid mistakes but we didn’t take the half chances we got.
hauk
Similar to the Man City game, failed to score when we were bossing the game then lack of focus cost us against top class opposition.
suzzopher
When this side gets a striker, we’ll be an outstanding side. And cut out the mistakes, but I can take the mistakes from a young team learning. Martinelli is going to be one of the best players in the world one day. The Fox
Not a bad performance, but you can't normally get away with those sort of individual errors against a side as good as Liverpool. The first goal is poor from Cedric and Ramsdale, and the second from Saka and Gabriel. I saw people have a go at Cedric too for the second but I think that's harsh - he had bombed off ahead of Saka to try and break, so Saka either needs to make sure his pass gets there, or if not just boot it out for a throw-in. He managed neither. Odegaard should have put us 1-0 up really but at the same time it was very good goalkeeping. And then you compare Firmino's goal to the similar chance Lacazette had earlier where at no point did he look like he even wanted to try and score, and you see why we really need a new CF in the summer.
hauk
At least with this team now you can see how we can improve and we are genuinely competing against the likes or Liverpool and Man City, as opposed to getting completely dominated by them. New Striker and a Xhaka upgrade (although he's been decent recently) and we might win both those games. More depth in the squad is needed long term as well. wev
I wish people would stop praising Xhaka, he's fine when he's not getting any attention on him, but the cycle seems to be brain fart > good run of games > starts getting positive attention > brain fart
Stagger Lee
Ødegaard and Partey need chants. I cannot get Ulysses 31 theme tune out of my head for an Ødegaard one. Too niche though. Edit: last night was fine bar the two errors.
Silent Runner
Leno and Smith-Rowe starting. No harm giving Ramsdale a break I think.

We've now got a nervy cross scared keeper who can't kick back in for the most important run of the season against Spurs, Man U, Chelsea. We've lost the odd game but not seen much of that old panic in the back 4 that blighted us for years, especially with Leno. Even Cedric hasn't ruined that relative composure but I have no faith in Leno at all. Then there is the fact that Leno's distribution is shite too. I honestly think this is the difference between making 4th or being back in the crap thursday euro pots
SeanR
A kerfuffle! The boy goes “oh no, xhaka’s going to get a red” “What for?” considering he’s not involved. ”nothing. yet.”
Gotters
Not sure Xhaka always gets a fair crack with refs, but of course it's all of his own doing over the years.

Silent Runner
I would sooner see the club put into liquidation than play in that tournament again. It genuinely ruins the season - never playing league matches at weekends, trecking out to the edge of the universe to play some made-up outfit then lose the final to Chelsea or Emery FC. Silent Runner
Tavares at full back for the rest of the season - we're done. It was always a massive ask to go the distance without an injury to a key player. Fucking Steve Clark playing Tierney for 90 minutes in 2 meaningless friendlies. I hope Wales or Ukraine destroy them. Silent Runner
Just need Xhaka to be sent off now to put the tin-hat on the night. 6th place incoming.
KRP
Oyyyy this is bad. Not sure how it could have been worse really. Hopefully we can get Tomiyasu back and maybe Cedric can play on the other side? We’ll be quite fucked if Partey is out for the rest of the season. Or if he can still play but only at his 4/10 level.
hauk
Result is terrible, injuries to key players even worse. Too 4 still possible, but gonna be a stretch with injuries and no proven goal scorer up front.
Gotters
That was pretty grim watching last night. A not unusual post interlull type pf performance but with major issues in the wing back spots, which are important to our style both playing out and in opposition half. Tavares just seems unpickable now, he's shocking in both directions, Soares wasn't dire but doesn't offer what Tomyasu does so we're hampered on both sides which let Palace push on and hassle us into mistakes. Unfortunately I think Tierney is the latest in our long list of highly talented crocks, one of those players whose body just can't handle 2 games a week for any extended period. With both Utd (who we will always conspire to lose to) and Spurs to play, plus the injuries mounting up I think 4th spot looks increasingly unlikely. Stagger Lee
I really don't like Europa League because of the Thursday night/Sunday nonsense but it feels much more our level at the mo. If we can get Partey and Tomiyasu back I think we have a chance. If not then I think we are looking at 6/7th.
