oh crap, it's manuel

Remarkably prescient.

If anything happens to Szczesny we're screwed. Absolutely wretched keeping for the equaliser, even by Almunia's standards.

Also, Alex Song: we can let you off being a petulant, hacking crapfest against Barcelona. Being that rubbish against Leyton Orient, not so much.

On the plus side Miquel was ok although not great for their goal. Arshavin was alright again. That was about it.

Could have been worse...could have been 4 up. Right, right?

I don't know why people get so worked up over cup games, the first team rarely play and the lower league sides always play far above their usual ability. These things happen. Arsenal should be comfortable in the replay, nothing to panic about.

Yeah it's not a massive problem. Some performances were well below par individually, but it happens.

If we go through then the next round game against United will be after our CL second leg but just before theirs, which could favour us. If we've gone out of the CL and lost the CC final we can bring out the big guns for United away.

On the other hand If we've won the CC final and maybe gone through in the CL, we can play whoever the fuck and no one will really care if United knock us out (not that defeat would be a forgone conclusion -- Ferguson will probably rest a lot of players prior to Marseille so even our second string might stand a chance against the might of Bebe and Gibson).

My first game "behind enemy lines" could have gone better but it could have been worse too I guess. Sitting still when Arsenal scored was weird as was standing up when they scored. Still at least we didn't lose and live to fight another day. Even if we now have 827 games in the next three weeks.

Fucking Squillaci, eh?

edit: Chamakh looked like he couldn't be arsed as well. Dunno what's up with him lately

The whole Chamakh thing is really odd. He looked pretty decent when he played when RvP was injured and although RvP's form is almost godlike, he isn't being used as much as I thought he would which must effect moral and performance. It must be hard being expected to come in and perform on the drop of a hat and I think that goes for most of the second string.

I seem to remember Wenger saying something about him being used to a break in the winter but I could have imagined it.

Well Chamakh hasn't played much lately and he's not in great form, which is fine, but he just looked like he wasn't up for it at all yesterday. It was odd.

Hopefully it's nothing more than a slump in form because with the way RVP has been playing lately you can hardly argue with Chamakh's regular omission.

I read somewhere recently that Chamakh was saying he was a bit taken aback as to how physical and fast the EPL is. He was saying he's pleased that RVP came back when he did and is doing so well as he really needed a rest.

He said he hopes to be back in contention in a few weeks, probably early March though. (I read this a week or 10 days or so ago).

Kind of makes sense as he was thrown straight in at the start of the season, but it did seem a bit odd how he said he was absolutely shattered and really needed a good month off to re-charge.

He did very well having been thrown in at the deep end.

Indeed he did but his performance on Sunday was shit, tired or not. I still think we need a strong quick striker who chases things down and makes things happen by hook or by crook. We've really only got van Persie and Chamakh in terms of quality up front. Chamakh is tired and out of form and van Persie is a world beater but made of glass. Bendtner still looks every bit the Billy Big Bollocks, I hate looking at him.

Don't get me wrong, I think Chamakh has done alright so far, he looks like he can and is willing to learn & improve his overall game, so I think he could be a big player for us in the years to come.

His scoring record this year isn't bad at all.

10 goals in 17 starts plus 4 appearances from the bench isn't bad. (that's wrong isn't it??)

so, was mr. pullis REALLY heard having to instruct his players NOT to foul, as if he was countermanding an earlier instruction to foul at every available oppotunity? Shocking.

To be fair, he surely would have meant it as in "Don't give away silly free kicks".
