carlito
Is anyone else going to drop some wedge on the Arse winning it this year? We were getting longer odds than Man City which is just ridiculous - you get it at 9s at the mo. I feel like all this press negativity is swaying people's betting and the bookies are responding. It's not like any team looked particularly dominant last season with the Chelsea squad aging, the United squad sorely low on creatively and City just plain negative - it's not like there is real stuck on favourite at the moment. I reckon if we ran it back nine times we'd take it more than once with the talent we've got - might sneak a nifty on.
Dude Ranch
Someone should punch Nasri in his fucking head and remind him who he is. That being said, he's a quality player who will only get better and better, and I knew this before he came over here to Arsenal. If Fabregas is worth £35million he's easily worth the same and you lot would be mental to let him go. I genuinely think keeping him without him signing a deal is madness. I'm stunned, actually. Surely he must be at least likely to sign, the whole keeping him and showing him the Club wants him and values him is a ploy to keep him onside. I will say that his demeanour looked pretty negative during the friendly yesterday though, but that could be misleading.

If Fabregas is worth £35million he's easily worth the same and you lot would be mental to let him go. 1) Fabregas is worth more than £35m. 2) Nasri with a year left is worth a fraction of his worth. £20m seems a ridiculously good offer under the circumstances. Sure, he's worth more than that in an ideal world - but in an ideal world he'd just sign a contract and stop being a dick.
Dude Ranch
Is he really being a dick though? The Club has failed recently, let's be honest. As fans we're all frustrated at the lack of investment in the team and the players must feel the same. The days of your Charlie George types, more or less coming from the stands, McClintock, O'Leary, Rocastle, Adams and other players who would die for the shirt they love are gone in many respects. Money talks and they all want trophies and the advice they get is based on greed. Nasri is seeing out his contracted obligation and feels he can move on to better things or at least try to push our offer through the roof. As much as it makes me sick the way things have gone the players can more or less call the shots and in some ways you must respect it. My heroes are those mentioned above, Wright, Dixon, Bould, Sansom, Sunderland, Keown, Smith, Winterburn etc. etc. Bastin, Drake, Wilson, Radford, Storey, Kelsey - all before my time but names that mean something. Forever. You can't go back, it's history. Pat Rice is the only genuine link to the past left at the Club really. We must tell Nasri to sign or sell him, drop it and move on. I've got no desire or energy to start worrying about him and where he might go and how good he might be for whoever he signs for. Fuck that, we are the Arsenal.
toythatkills
Wenger is just being naive. He wants to think we'll win the quadruple next year thanks to fifty Nasri goals, and Nasri will be so overcome by the huge success that he'll agree a twenty year contract at £3.99 a week at the end of the season. Truth is we could win ten trophies next season and he'll still bugger off on a free to the first club that offers him £200k, even if they're in fucking Dubai or something. If we genuinely get offered £20m, he has to go.
wev
Isn't his agent David Deins son? Also, doesn't the same guy represent Clichy and Fabregas? If so, someones obviously looking at gaining himself some signing on fee's...
toythatkills
There's a piece on Arsenal.com about Arshavin, in which he talks about why he's enjoying this pre-season more than any other. It's because he doesn't have to play football much. http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/arshavin-why-i-m-enjoying-our-asia-tour

wev
I liked the little flick that led to Rosicky's goal the other day, heres hoping we see more of the Arshavin that we had during that half a season immediately after he signed for us.
hercules
He frustrates the hell out of me because he is sso talented but looks like he couldn't give a toss but then i don't mind having him in the squad.
Art Vandelay
Denilson has allegedly joined Sao Paulo, but on loan for some odd reason. Also we've bid for some kid from Costa Rica called Joel Campbell who was discovered kicking cans around the street and is the greatest Costa Rican footballer since Paulo Wanchope ambled to these shores in about three bounds. The Mirror is reporting we've tried to buy Roman Lukaku too but don't hold your breath. Apparently a signing is imminent as Wenger has left the tour for a bit. It's either that or he's openly criticised the government and has disapeared.
Cosmic_Guru
Denilson has allegedly joined Sau Paulo, but on loan for some odd reason. Probably related to a distinct lack of offers from other clubs. He's looked their best player by quite a long way, scored a goal against Bolivia (which Argentina couldn't do) and looked one of the better young players there. BlinkyBear
Check the quotes they came to that conclusion from - he didn't say anything like that. It was beyond lolsome when I heard that 'report'; Mancini said he wants Nasri. The first 5live report I heard said almost exactly that and then this somehow got spun a couple of bulletins later to it being that Nasir would be signing within the next couple of weeks. Dickbags. Steve007
Contrary to what Mancini has said, I've heard that Nasri will stay for the season but has agreed a deal with another club for when he is a free agent. Apparently he will get an £11m signing-on fee.

BlinkyBear
Well that's bollocks, he wouldn't be allowed to talk to anyone until January. Yeah, because footballers and agents never illegally talk to other clubs.
Steve007
Well that's bollocks, he wouldn't be allowed to talk to anyone until January. Not officially no, but agents meet other clubs who are interested in their clients all the time! All I am saying is that I've heard that he's going to stay but a deal has been agreed. There is no way we will be able to financially compete with a £11,000,000 bonus & £150k+ a week wages for him. And on the flip side, you can't blame him for wanting to secure his future either. I know if I was offered that package it would take me all of 2 seconds to think it over.
toythatkills
I know if I was offered that package it would take me all of 2 seconds to think it over. Well yeah, if *I* was offered it I'd be all over it. If I'd already been earning £4m a year for the last three or four years I'd probably be able to consider it from a different perspective, though.
wev
Why? It's not like he has Arsenal blood running through his veins, the one club he's already left the club that he was ever likely to be loyal to when he left Marseille and you could suggest he did that to benefit them in some way by agreeing a new deal to make sure he had to actually be bought rather than signing for us on a free. toythatkills
I don't mean loyalty, I mean as a footballer. I'd want to play good football. I'd want to challenge myself. I wouldn't want to sign for some shit team with a billionaire owner.
dizogg
I would feel a bit depressed playing for Arsenal though. They haven't won anything for years and don't look any closer. I actually don't know what their plan is? Do you think secretly the board is happy with maintaining top 4 (which is not easy, I know!) or does Arsene genuinely believe this squad can win stuff? But thats not really taking into account what City are now though, they appear to be improving each year, unlike Arsenal who have pretty much stood still for varying reasons. You can play the prettiest football in the world, but if you're not winning its pointless, the only reason people jizz over Barcelona is because they play pretty football and they win stuff. I mean I'd want to achieve something in a team where achieving something would feel like an achievement, rather than that success was bought. But then I'm not a footballer. I guess they don't give a shit about this stuff.
a big boy
I would feel a bit depressed playing for Arsenal though. They haven't won anything for years and don't look any closer. Virtually all the players looked so demoralised from the Carling Cup final onwards - even when they still had a real shot at the League - last season it's not surprising the amount of them that want to leave. Not the attitude you want to see from your team as fans, but then there hasn't been a real leader at Arsenal for years. I actually don't know what their plan is? Do you think secretly the board is happy with maintaining top 4 (which is not easy, I know!) or does Arsene genuinely believe this squad can win stuff? If you take Wenger at his word (big if, of course) I wouldn't be surprised if he thinks the squad as it is now will when the Premier League next season, and by the end of it Nasri and everyone else will be begging him to let them all stay.
