Music To Chill Out In The Sun To

Right. It's summer, and we should all be outside in the sun.

I'm planning to go out and "catch some rays" as soon as I've made myself some lunch, and I fancy having some proper music to do it with. I want real laid back stuff, that I can properly chill out with, but not that will put me to sleep.

Songs need to be slow, and without loud choruses. Stuff like the Chilis, Incubus, and Damien Rice are perfect. Acoustic stuff is always good.

So come on guys: recommend some songs. If we put our heads together we could come up with one hell of a Summer Chillout Playlist.

Go!

Nick Cave's "The Boatman's Call" album.

A bit of Aphex Twin, maybe? Either of the Selected Ambient Works albums are good.

Air's "Moon Safari" is one of my favourites.

Maybe some early Tom Waits? "Closing Time" or "The Heart Of Saturday Night" would be good.

If you want acoustic, try Luka Bloom (brother of the great Christy Moore). His latest album, "Innocence" is perfect, but if you want even more sedated, try his ultra-chilled "Before Sleep Comes" album.

A lot of Jamiroquai stuff is wonderfully summery and soulfully cheery.

Probably not your style but there's a few bright cheery summery/laid back things on lemonjelly.ky: Homage To Patagonia, His Majesty King Raam, Come, The Staunton Lick...all of which I'd like to listen to whilst lazing around in the sunshine...if it was a bit more sunny...

Yes!

Maybe get some Fantastic Plastic Machine down you, lovely and summery. Probably stretching it a little though considering what you're looking for (i.e. slow/acoustic).

How about something by Kinobe? It's always nice to chill out to them every now and then, lovely stuff.
