I started out pleasantly surprised- the thought of how long you would have to play dodgeball to a bosnian child before it stopped cheering him up was inspired.

However, soon after it became a bit of a mess. The nightclub scene was boring, and the characters were confused. Ricky Gervais is someone who'll do ANYTHING to get a speaking part, but at the end turn around and insult Ben Stiller for no real reason. That just didn't sit well. Also it has somethng which I'm sure we'd all be sick of by now: characters whose sole purpose is to get offended. SHIT OFF!

Next Ricky Gervais script:

Gervais: It's getting dark outside

Black man (his only line): What's wrong with being dark?

Gervais (looking flustered): Nothing, noo, I like black people

Woman (offended): Now you're judging people based on the colour of there skin!

repeat ad infitum

lol my fucking dick.

Also, I don't have a clue about being an extra, and so a lot of the stuff was completely lost on me- were they joking or is that bit at the start true? I don't know.

Overall: very dissapointing.

I thought it was far funnier this week, absolutely hilarious. It helps that I'm more used to the shows format now, it seemed a bit weird last week, its lack of music made it feel really dry, but now it seems perfect to me. Ross Kemp was golden.

I think it was funnier on paper to be honest. The ideas are great, and getting the stars to be all crap is a great way to spin a series, but the reality is Jervais is just boring and smug.

He feels like a comic tourist who sort of stands around in each scene pulling the levers to get to the punchline. It's all very detached, far too 'knowing' for it's own good.

Imagine a great coemdy series with all the right ingredients, like faulty towers, except John Cleese just plays himself, and wanders up to guests and says 'alright love are you a bit deaf then. Crikey. See you later.'

That's what I think of extras.

Half of Gervais' comedy in Extras is in the expressions he pulls while having these random conversations. He's brilliant in it.

It was a good episode - but not something that would make me watch the series. Obviously, I'll carry on with it for the Gervais gold moments, but tonight's episode just felt like "Oh what is the opposite of Ross Kemp? A wuss!", and makes me look at last week's like "Oh what is the opposite of Ben Stiller? Someone who's really agressive!"

Surely there are funny ways to use celebrities...
