Resident Evil 5- 360/PS3

The game looks amazing. Fantastic graphics. But going by the demo (and we all know how bad it is to do that) this just seems like a a pretty average action game with a big budget. I mean there is no feeling at killing a zombie. The death animations are awful.

But hey ho, i'll be getting the game. You can NEVER judge a game by it's demo. See Burnout Paradise and Banjo Nuts and Bolts

The death animations are great. I just shot someone, smacked him with a straight. He went rolling down the round, then I stomped on his head to a satisfying squish!

Marvellous!

You can aim with the right (nipple) stick in Res 4 for the GC?

You can adjust the view with the yellow nipple, same as you can in this with the right stick (I'm talking in non-aim mode). It's handy anyway for looking around corners, but crucially it lets you quick-adjust your aim. I'm not talking about actually controlling your gun arm, I'm talking about snapping quickly to look in a certain direction when you hit aim. Then you use the left stick to aim as normal.

There must be a video of it somewhere...

Oh I see - never tried that at all! Used it to look round corners a couple of time, but that's it.

I'm going to try this right now on Separate Ways, cheers.

Oh wow. Just finished a 2 hour online co-op session.

I think this may be the game that finally gets me into Xbox Live. It just makes so much sense in co-op.

The old stun and melee tag-team act never gets old. I've discovered 5 melee moves now for Sheva (who is great to play as, by the way), roundhouse kick, twist kick, somersault, impale and the throat cut!

I'm very much looking forward to this not being a fan of RE4. It just looks fantatstic, real time weapon change has made all the differance for me. The controls arguement I'm not getting especaily for those that loved RE4 as there are 4 control schemes to choose from including the old GC controls.

Hey Davros, now I love your love for this game and I love the fact that you are so passionate but where in the game does it tell you that you can flick? How would your average person find this out?

Good point. I think I only found out about it on here. I suspect it's just a side effect of being able to look around, i.e the logic is that if Chris' head is glancing to the side, when you hit aim that will just happen to be the direction you'll aim in.

It's probably in the manual. It's not an essential trick and one that you use once you're used to the game so I doubt they're hone it in on the demo

Did you do proper tag team QTEs? Me likes those very much.

And Moosegrinder; I was half joking - I like the 'discussion' just as much as you! But all I saw, when skim reading the last 5 or so pages before I'd posting about wanting to kill people, was people going LOLCONTROLS. Or LOLCOOP. Well not literally but I was fucking dying of boredom reading the same old fucking shit. If that's someone's opinion then GREAT; but do you know what? Resi 5 is obviously not going to be the game for these people. Thankfully I have little issue with the controls, and some good mates ready to join me in coop lols.

Bring it the fuck on.

By fucking playing the game and experimenting and, you know, FIGURING STUFF OUT.

Jesus.

Easy there dood. It is a slightly obscure feature.

Talking of obscure, has anyone else spotted the blue "plate" thing you can shoot? It's just above where Chris helps Sheva over the gap in scenario 2. If you shoot it, something is "given" to both characters, but I've no idea what.

Oh, and do you mean doing one QTE hit after another? We couldn't quite get organized enough for that, we were usually just having one of us shoot, and the other one punch.

Fuck calm down mate. We are all trying to have a discussion about the game. We can't all think it is the fucking saviour of gaming and the best thing since sliced bread.

I have played the demo fifteen times now and not once noticed that feature.

Yeah I know it's slightly obscure, but I worked it out by meself! Resi 4 has a beautifully robust combat system; this game is more of the same, with the enemies multiplied by about fifty and a coop mate to help you fight them. Criticisms like 'it doesn't feel like you actually hit the zombies' make me want to commit genocide.

And yes re: the coop QTEs.. there's a vid on youtube somewhere, bloody hilarious fun

Why have you played the demo fifteen times (and indeed continue to post in this thread) when you've already told us you hate it? ;) To notice the feature you'll need to be on control type A (which is like the Gamecube/PS2 version controls) so that right stick looks around the environment.

And I don't think it's the best thing since sliced bread - it's just a sequel to one of my favourite action games and quite frankly, if you were there during Resi 4 then I'm not surprised you think it's a bit shit after playing some recent games.

But MAN. I'm just fed up of the negativity.

OMG LOL I LOVE EXPRESSING MY OWN NEGATIVE OPINION ITS SO SATISFYING, OOH LOOK AT ME RATING THE GAME. LOOK AT ME I WORK AT ARGOS, I'M RATING THE GAME.

Which control type are you using? I've just thought, it's probably not possible in one of the strafing types.

..and then one of the researchers was like, assassinated by his researchy mates and then some leeches took TEN YEARS to make a clone of his body so that he could exact his revenge on the planet by causing an outbreak of the T-virus!!

..ah, I fucking love Resident Evil.

Played the demo, shot a lot of people, ran out of ammo and got killed by the guy with the HERUGE axe and didn't like the controls one bit. It didn't really click for me, but I didn't really click with #4 either. I'll stick with Gears of War for my third person shooter fix, if it's all the same with you guys

So when is dood gonna come shout at me?

Surely it's a given that the shanty town-type scenery is only a part of the game?

I was a bit dubious the first couple of times I played the demo and hoped that it was down to the controls (I was, and still am, using type D) and the lack of context to the two levels. After a few more goes it's looking like that is the case and I've having more fun playing through them now. Not without a few question marks, but definitely looking forward to playing the real thing.

macosx - I'd have thought that "deja vu re gameplay" was a good thing...
