Argh! I'm STUCK!

Dungeon 7:

Got the Boss key, have stopped the big ceiling fan, dropped back into the main room, and am now trying to get across the final gap towards the boss. I can hookshot onto the grilles suspended in mid air, but clearly they need to be spinning. So I need to turn the fan on. But although I can hookshot up near it, I can't seem to set it going. There is a ceiling switch back in the main room, but I cannae reach it!

Gentle hints appreciated.

I think what you've yet to see, Broken Klassic, is that this Zelda is getting the "traditional" Zelda items out of the way, very, very quickly, and that new items soon come thick and fast. If you recall, some of the items you have now came very late in OoT.

I thought the bosses were terrific, and the use of comedy with the Monkeys, and of course the Baboon, was very refreshing. Equally entertaining was the new twist on the Boomerang - overturning those tiles with the centipede things underneath them was tremendous fun, and great revenge for the number of times they had knocked me into the water.

So do give it a chance, it really does explode exponentially after dungeon 3, specifically because, you get an element of control back to proceedings. The pace of the game is a bit relentless at the stage you're at.

That’s such a kind response, thanks. I feel bad now. :)

With the Goron dungeon boss, it was just a little bit too easy and an obvious idea. I've seen very little in the way of trailers, in-game footage or video reviews, yet still remembered that fire boss from years back, as well as the iron boots and a spider chase sequence straight out of LOTR: The Return of The King, which I still hope is in the game.

Guess the game can only get better from here.

.::: A lot of fans seem to be covered with grilles but not all can be reached from the floor.

Ah, I did try a bit of that. Thanks, will have another snoop around.

Hmmm, no, I still can't get it.

Is it anything to do with the pillars in that room? Cos I can't clawshot from one to another. There is a Clawshot point which is suspended over an abyss, so I can lower myself underneath the room. but that doesn't lead to anything.

Will I kick myself?

.::: Yes. :) I told you you may not reach it from the floor. :) You know were to go, but you are probably...

Clearly I am.

So I have to stay in the main room? I have four pillars, only one of which I can stand on (cos) its broken. From there, I can't reach the switch, which is recessed in the ceiling just before the door I need to go through next. I can go back up into the room above, but I can't seem to do, or reach anything from there.

Stumped.

.::: Let's spell it out. :)

Go to main room.

Go back to the top room with the switched off fan.

Shoot yourself into the greenery on the edge leading down.

Now shoot the second clawshot into the grating underneath the switched off fan.

If you can't find your way to the switch now, you're hopeless.

;P

Just finished the game.

Rather disappointed that when you finish the game, it doesn't save your progress (to mark that you finished the main story) and just allow you to return to the game (in case you want to pursue any of the side quests or mini-games you might have missed).

That Switch in dungeon 7 was a real head scratcher & when I had the idea for it's solution it seemed logical & yet also so outside-the-box thinking I did'nt know if the game would allow it. And then finding that it was the answer was a real :) moment.

I don't think any Zelda game has allowed you to do that.

Anyway, really enjoyed Dungeon 7, and the boss was fabulous. Most satisfying, and a nice atmosphere to the fight too.

Had a quick peek at Dungeon 8 (which looks intriguing), but will go back and do some titting about first, I think.

What do you actually get for completing the cave of ordeals? Has anyone completed Rollagoal? And...

Where's the small key in the castle for that last door??

The cave of Ordeals reward...

There will be fairies added to each Spirit Spring each time you meet the great fairy & should you make it all the way to the end the Great Fairy will be at the spring to & give you a bottle of Fairy's Tears (Restore all hearts & briefly boost attack) whenever you want.

The Rollagoal reward:

Complete all 8 levels of the game & The Fishing Lady will let you use the Frog Lure. Essential for geting the Rare Hyllian Loach.

True, but I still expect it. A ridiculous omission really. At least Wind Waker warns you and says "if you go through here, you won't be able to do any of the other stuff you missed out on - do you want to go back?" and gives you a chance. Twilight Princess gives you no such warning, and no chance to save after it is all done.

Also, I think Wind Waker did actually save when you completed it... IIRC, if you start a new game after finishing it once already, it remembers that and there are some changes second time around (I think you get to play the whole game in your pyjamas, or something like that).

Yes, I think you're right, something to do with the Pictobox?

It's never bothered me though. Usually my "finish everythin" save game in a Zelda title is just before the final boss, so it's as good as a completed save game anyway. I used to love being able to just switch on and do the final fight with Ganon any time I liked in OoT.

Yeah, the fish lady tells you, I was just wondering if anyone had done it because it gets seriously difficult.

The cave of ordeals thing doesn't sound too worthwhile...

Righty, got this for christmas and put in about 7 hours over christmas and boxing day. I'm really enjoying it, it looks lovely on GC and the controls are really nice. I'm just doing the second light tear collecting quest thing as the wolf which is ace, what with seeing those kids again and all. Minda is a little irritating and I don't like the slight delay when you hit people (which I know was in WW but I never played that) but other than that it's been ace.

The forest temple was brilliant and the familiarity of hyrule mixed with new features and whatnot is great. The buildup to the start of the game proper with the first dungeon was great as well.

All in all, its excellent so far :)

Sometimes I would warp but a lot of time I would gallop because I love Hyrule Field's music, and there are a load of secret caves and secrets to find around the field that you'll just miss if you warp. Plus I wasted time because I liked doing the sidegames around Lake Hylia and up that stream, and I searched forbugs and stuff when I could. Have you pretty much just gone through the story?
