It's not really meaningful to compare TP with a game that's nearly 10 years old (OoT). It's even less meaningful when you see how much TP obviously borrows from OoT. TP doesn't bring to the table anywhere near as much (in terms of originality) as OoT. OoT was a truely magical game back when it was released. I've never been back to it (once I'd done/found everything in it) because it was such a monumental challenge/adventure. It was so incredibly rounded and finished, you felt utterly fulfilled once it was over. This is far from the case once TP is done and dusted, not least because you've spent a good deal of your time retreading an almost identical path laid down nearly 10 years ago.

I would say is that OoT was a better game then than what TP is now.

Does anyone think the Zelda series needs to sort out it's chronology, or is it OK that it plays it a little fast & loose as to which one is set before/after another & even if they are the same world at all?...

I've read somewhere (might even be this thread) that Nintendo have an in-house only chronology of the Zelda series. I'd agree that it needs to be sorted out. I'd always thought Link to the Past was the end of the series due the ending sequence featuring words along the lines of...

...The Master Sword sleeps forever.

Castlevania's timeline was recently clarified and ordered via the timeline poster that came with the POR bonus pack. Hopefully Nintendo will do the same thing one day and release the in-house chronology.

Definitely, but man, it's been 10 years! It's well due a replay. It's still amazing now. -_-

There's always the Master Quest, if you really feel as though playing it again would just ruin memories.

.::: If you want to impress me with the 'fact' that I'm wrong, you'll have to do better than that. -_- It's not like it's the first time I get this kind of... 'correction'.

err.. I really was just joking. Sorry if it was taken the wrong way.

I've just finished dungeon two.

Can anyone tell me: is there any way to walk out of this dungeon without using Ooccoo? At one point I wanted to leave the dungeon to buy a better shield but couldn't get past the flames in the first room, and I hadn't yet found Ooccoo. It didn't seem very 'Zelda' to not be able to leave in that situation.

I couldn't find a way out myself. Baaaad design for that to happen, surely?

and I agree - however, there's thousands out there for whom TP is their first game of its type. To them, TP will have the kind of impact that tOoT had on us. I suppose TP doesn't have the graphical impact that tOoT had back then, but it's still a beautiful game... I'll take Hyrule over Tamriel anyday.

.::: I think you are. ;)

-_- - fucker.

Right, finished.

I really enjoyed it - dungeon design was superb, bosses were a little on the easy side and the overworld felt

sparse -but still the best game I've played all year.

I wonder where they are going to go from here with the 3D games - I don't really want play this again in ten years in hi-def.

Actually - strike that - of course I do.

Just out of interest, does anyone know how many copies of the GC version Nintendo bothered to make? Christ hiimself wouldn't be able to find one at 'normal' prices...

Some sod on eBay has decided to do a 'buy it now' for £80...

I should have known that it was going to be like this, but I imagined that VG+ would have had copies of it still available...but no.

When you go by the manuals & literature that came with each game, the Zelda series used to have a pretty clear Timeline right up until OoT, with each "Major" outing being set a few centuries before the rest.

Zelda 1 then 2

-- back a few hundred years --

Zelda 3 then Links Awakening

-- back a few hundred years --

Ocarina of Time then Majora's Mask.

It started to unravel with Wind Waker, Ages/Seasons & Minish Cap however as it was unclear where (if anywhere) they were supposed to fit. I remember reading somewhere that Miyamoto was saying that OoT had "rebooted" the timeline & 1,2,3 & LA were no longer relevant, but that dosent really hold water when you consider that the story of TP

is incompatible with Wind Waker. It's possible that it's an "alternate" future for Hyrule stemming from the 2 timelines though.

I really hope that Nintendo do have some kind of idea where the overall history of the series is as i'm not sure if they can just get by making it up as they go along.

If you're looking at VG+, I presume it's the US version you're after? Yes Asia has it in stock and the price ain't that bad...

Insect hunting question, in the style of insect collection conversations naturally…

L'il snail, l'li snail

I wish you were as easy to find

as your friend and his slime

near the temple of time

For I've looked round the grove

and not found you, no

Though as I do rove

I've killed the odd poe

Yeah each Zelda game is pretty much a new story. Only a couple of the games follow on from each other.

I used to be a real Zelda boffin (I used to run Zeldapower.com ) but it got too much and i just play the games now, cant be bothered with guff like timelines etc.

Also: Regarding TooT and TP - which is the best? I think so far, TP is probably a better game as a whole but TooT was totally amazing game at the time - the first 3d zelda - and i think this makes it a much more important game.
