Zelda: Twilight Princess

i've been playing it since Christmas and it's everything i expected, which is great, but in the past if Zelda taught me anything it was to expect the unexpected. so in that sense it's a letdown. bar the odd bit of inspired genius i haven't come across anything i haven't seen before. in saying that i'm only 3 dungeons in so all that could change.

the bosses whilst impressive are very easy compared to ones of old. infact the game as a whole is every easy compared to A Link To The Past, say.

the Water Temple was a bit fiddly but felt contrived in comparison to the masterful one from Ocarina.

you could be forgiven for thinking i'm being negative when the truth is i'm enjoying it hugely, but this is Zelda and i don't feel the need to list all it's good points; like the game it'd just be retreading old ground.

Twiilight Princess (see what i did there) is very much the Love Actually of the series then.

Complete change of subject, but does anyone else get the weird sad/happy feeling every time you accidentally move the pointer across the screen and think that Navi is trying to show you something?

;)

SAY LISTEN, BITCH!!

:'(

No, because I'm on the spaccy GC version. :)

Stuck on dungeon 6!!

I've got the statue back to the huge circular room with the rotating platform in the middle (the one with all the spiders at the bottom of it) and now I need to get it under the bell but... there's a golden gate blocking the way. To open it I guess I have to get an object on the pressure pad which is also behind another gate (there's a po there as well). However, I can't see any way to open that gate to access the pressure pad. Any hints?

You can use the statue to destroy the gate. Press B to make him attack.

Is there a real incentive to collect every single Poe, considering the Magic Armour (which should be the best thing ever but is actually quite useless) is a bought item? What's left for him to give you at that point?

Ta

ARGH! SPOILER!!!

Thanks for the help on dungeon 6, fellas.

I did actually try hitting the gate with the statue but his axe bounced off. I think I was actually too close which caused this to happen, leading me to (wrongly) assume that the gate couldn't be broken. *slaps forehead*

This is without doubt a recurring question, but out of interest, how exactly do you make link do his fancy sword to sheath maneuver? It seems to occur randomly after a fight? Is there a trick?

I can't be bothered reading through the rest of the thread. I don't want to get spoilered.

You just press the "Put Away" button once you've killed your enemy.

Can't gainsay any of that really, but you have got some lovely stuff still to come.

Re. the Water Temple, if you think about it, that's only dungeon 3 this time around, equivalent to Jabu Jabu's belly. I got stuck in each of the subsequent dungeons (although many people didn't, so I might just be losing my edge).

In general it seems to be if you defeat an enemy without taking much (or any damage) and then press "put away" just after they've gone dark but before they explode. That's how i've made it happen most consistently anyway.

You do the 'put away' thing after fighting, but it will only work (it seems) after the end-of-fight fanfare music bit plays.

The "twirly sword sheath" depends on what type of enemy you're fighting. There are a couple of exceptions but by and large if the enemy is "humanoid" (like the moblins, or the fighting lizard blokes) where you're having some level of actual swordfight with them (even if it's very basic) he'll do the twirl when you put the sword away after they're dead. If you do anything else before it (like swing the sword) it will cancel it though.

It only works after you've killed an enemy with a Hidden Move though.

I think this man may be on to something. Though I've done it after a spin attack.

EDIT - also this is fascinating discussion!!! :) Nobody seems to know the trick!

No, it's not as complex as that. It's simply:

1) Do Hidden Move

2) Put sword away

dood, a Spin Attack counts as a Hidden Move.
