Zelda: Twilight Princess

this is the first zelda game where I've obsessively gone out of my way to collect all hearts - I've never done that before, usually ending the game with at least a good 5 full hearts missing, but this time - I've got to find them all. The fortune teller helps a lot - makes it more enjoyable and is a good addition.

13 more poes, 2 more bugs (of the same species) and about 8 heart pieces to go...

oh - and I need to finish the cave of ordeals, got as far as the room with the 3 stavlos knights in it... I have NO idea how to avoid pwnage in that room. Any hints?

Yes, whilst I love the new tunes, they really did some justice to the old ones

Particularly the melancholic piano version of Saria's Song, and the Ganondorf/Hyrule Castle from LttP mashup at the end

.::: They never finish that last one though, disappointingly it only keeps hammering on the main melody. Annoys me without end as it's one of the best tracks in the series ever. Lovely remix at OCR btw:

I am 20 or so hours into this and I just cant seem to play it anymore. It is so big it is overwhelming so I play Wario instead.

I seem to have this problem with every Zelda now, they are just too big and there is too much to do. I have only just finished the 4th dungeon so I know there is loads left to do and it just seems like I will never have the time or energy to do it.

I've found this with most other Zeldas but not this one. The only other Zelda I've finished is Minish Cap (don't say it, I thought it was great). I rather prefer the linear pacing of this one and have found the dungeons and overworld puzzles to be much more straightforward. I'm not sure whether this is because I'm more aware of what needs to be done or whether the game is actually easier. Anyway, I haven't finished it yet but I've just done dungeon 7 and am well on my way to the next one. The end is in sight.

Well I started this last night after having it since Xmas.

It's getting on my tits already. I want to kill that fucking cat!

Honestly, stick with it. It gets SO much better after that first hour or so. The specific task you're on was the worst bit of the game for me.

Ha, the cat was pretty much the one thing that had me stumped in the entire game. :)

It follows you when you have the rod out, so follow me into the fucking shop! It's just daft how you have to

catch two fish, when at that point you've only seen Link keep the fish you catch. I just fished once more in exasperation due to a lack of alternative options.

Cool ta.

My mate told me to catch a fish but he couldn't remember the whole procedure.

I'll give it ago tonight.

It's a little off putting as I thought each puzzle was going to be as difficult or if not harder later on!

Noticed that the lovely piano tune from after dungeon 3 was getting a few mentions in this thread,

just downloaded it from Galbadia Hotel -

Surely one of the best pieces of music from a series which already has an embarrassment of amazing tunes

Link to the whole soundtrack it seems

My favourite - the Zora ghost queen

Malo Mart!!

I'd imagine when the proper soundtrack is out there'll be better quality mp3s on there...

Incidentally, anyone recognise some of the later wolf tunes?

The first few are fairly easy to spot (Song of Healing! serious soft spot for that one) but the last couple aren't familiar to me at all...

just random music or are they from the more obscure reaches of Zelda games?

My, that Koji Kondo fellow sure seems to know what he's doing. Where would the Mario & Zelda soundtracks be without him? :)

BTW, I also wonder about the later Howling Stones. I certainly don't recognise them from the main Zelda's.

I think it might be the 'Serenade of Water'. It's definitely one of the warp ones from OOT.

Edit: Forgot I have the OOT soundtrack... It is the Serenade of Water.

Here's a puzzle though. I swear that on my last run through OoT I somehow didn't learn that warp song, and yet I'm sure I had all the Ocarina song slots filled. Is that even possible?

Let's see, you have

Zelda's Lullaby

Saria's Song

Song of Storms

Song of Time

Sun song

Epona's song

Then:

Minuet of Forest

The fire temple one

The graveyard one

The spirit temple one

The Temple of Time one

Scarecrow Song

And I guess the water one...

I'll have to check this tonight!

Thank you! :)

New ringtone time, now I just have to pick which song...

Well, I don't think your scarecrow one goes into the menu, so that wouldn't take up a slot. I think it's possible to miss learning the Serenade of Water, because you have to cross the bridges to trigger Sheik's appearance, so I guess if you don't go up there...

I think that must be it. I don't recall seing Sheik there at all on that playthrough.

What site did you get the torrent from? Does it contain all 127 tracks that are on the Galbadia site? I downloaded an unofficial torrent a few weeks back, and it only had something like 21 tracks in it (it also came with that duff artwork).

Yeah, you're right. There's only 21 tracks here. Dagnammit. It does say Volume 1 though, so there might be some more knocking about. That Galbadia place has the game rip and includes every single piece of music...so...depends if you want absolutely everything, or something resembling what...er...might be the official soundtrack one day. What a mess. :)
