I did spot a few of those, like the steak doggy bag making the dog sick. I just thought it was one of the recycled jokes episodes that shows sometimes do.

Spoiler

Larry suddenly needing a new dentist, and Jeff has just had an affair with the hygienist at his own dentist (i.e. big plot point).

Larry goes to meet Dylan O’Brien for lunch… and the same hygienist is at the same restaurant at the same time, sat right behind him.

There’s a janitor at the dentist. Oh, he’s also the janitor at the Netflix building.

etc

Curb is at its best when it unfolds organically. I reckon you’re allowed one of these extreme coincidences per movie/per episode. Any more, and it just reeks of lazy writing.

I think both eps of this series have been absolutely brilliant. Just classic Larry bumbling about offending people as has been said.
Curb has always been about three mad disparate storylines wrapping around each other in stupid ways. Part of the fun is plotting it out as you go.

And I love the girl playing the restaurant owner’s daughter. Some truly great all timer bad acting on display in episode one.

Oh yeah, she was great. I hope Larry continues trying to shoehorn her into Young Larry in future episodes.

Spoiler

That whole ‘middle of the table thing’ was fascinating. Is that something curb just made up or is that actually a thing? I’ve never thought about it but now I will every time I’m at a table with people. Arghhhh…

I concur Episode 3 was amazing and stacked with incidents, characters and great comedians.

and then the 2 minute Leon segment about dogs and water was worth another star on its own.

"I call it Tap Water" 😂

Yep, absolutely brilliant this week.

Every time Curb isn't on, I definitely miss it.

And every time it comes back, I feel like it hasn't grown in any interesting way and is just the most tired format.

I'll still plug through to the end of the series, to continue the cycle next year. Excelsior.

I still think ONLY episode 2 was the weak one so far. 1,3 and 5 were all good. 4 was great.

Spoiler

I loved his reasoning behind refusing to join the guy in praying for his father, like why would god ignore the son's prayers and then finally do something after Larry does a prayer?

Genuinely think this is turning into one of my favourite Curb series'. It's certainly the strongest it's been since they brought it back a few years ago. Absolutely loved this week's;

Spoiler

I love those moments where Curb doesn't go where you think it's going. The weeks Larry wins or, in tonight's case, where he finds common ground with someone that could have easily ended up a foil for him. That little salute with Hal at the end of the episode will make me smile every time I think about it.

Great show, lovely to have it back on such strong form.

The whole thing with the builder was a bit uncomfortable I felt, like

Spoiler

are we laughing at a fat person here? I thought the joke was that Larry/Leon were being ridiculous in thinking that the builder would fall through the roof but then yeah, he just just falls through the roof? Because he's fat?

It was a bit weird. Like, if I had the choice between a skinny teenager who doesn't have a clue, and this Quint-type guy that looks like he's been doing manual labour for forty years, I'm not going to give a fuck that he's got a bit of a belly on him.

Yeah, the payoff was a bit odd. Like, he was using the charger, so what? What about his character made that a funny scenario? I guess it was just a reason to get him to run across the roof and ultimately fall through. Although let’s be honest, the ‘take the rest of the day off’ line was gold.

Are you really expecting Larry David in Curb to be politically correct or sensitive in any way?

Well I expect him to get his comeuppance from time to time, instead of just being proved right with his judgmental assumptions.
